Hi everyone!

I just posted another piece, and I realized that I didn't identify the source for the art, the fonts, or anything else.

If this is bad form, then from now on I'll do it. Honestly I'm sort of lazy, everything is disorganized on my computer, I have no idea where I got the bits and pieces, and I can't remember the fonts, etc., etc., etc...

I really want to "play fair" and if part of posting on this site includes needing to keep up with this information and post it when I post art, then from now on I double dog promise that I will.

Thanks everyone!
Anna

Yip, you even had to when you publish a page on what kind of site, even your blog. In a kit you buy or get as a freebie there is always a TOU.txt or .doc, Terms To Use, one of the terms is to give a proper credit when you use papers or elements.

I know how you feel, however I'm a very organised and credit minded lady sometimes cost the right English words me a lot of time and did I have used so much elements that it mostly cost me more time to make the credits than the total page .

Perhaps a tip, I always have a textfile open and notice directly what I used, so I can cut and past it when I uploaded a layout. Other tip there be very good image managements programs even some who make such a list for you when you use an element.

To start the crown and the pink lady are of the La Femme kit of Robyn England at ScrapArtist.

Good luck with organising.

I try to list the designers/info for as much as I know and have kept track of, simply because it's good etiquette to give credit/thanks to those who have spent time and effort in making the elements in the first place--they do things I cannot! :)

Anna, it is both a legal and a moral obligation (the latter is IMHO only). As you put it, it is "playing fair".

It can be a pita, for sure! The plus side is once you get used to being organised it is quite helpful to the work flow.

The other neat thing is if, for example, you use a textfile to track, you can paste that info into your image and then, three years from now if you want to redo or whatever, all that info is there.

If I use someone else's work at all, I always credit because of copywrite / license obligations. If you don't, you are breaking the terms of use and that can get you into trouble, but I like to anyway. If someone is nice enough to let me use an element or photo, then it is only fair to give them the credit for it.

Most of my art, though, uses only my own work, so you won't find credits underneath. I am not very good at using lots of elements.

Most of us have some sort of system set up on our computers for tracking our credits. Me, I have a Notepad file (.txt) called CREDITS and just number all my pieces and list all the items I've used as I work. Saves time later, because then you just copy and paste into any online gallery where you post.
