View Full Version : Here it is! Number 400!
In honor of getting 400 posts, I have a new question for all of you out there in quirkdom. This one comes directly from The Artist's Way, and I honestly haven't been able to come up with an answer yet!
What was your favorite toy as a child?

This is an easy one for me LOL! When I was really little I had a little stuffed Tigger and I loved it! Dragged it around everywhere. I don't remember that all that well, but I vividly remember the day Tigger passed on. We were camping and I think he was just too old and falling apart so my parents finally took him away. I gave them grief about it for years - long after I was actually upset LOL. The best part is that for Christmas this year, my dad got me a little stuffed Tigger just like my old one - they're bringing back some of the retro Pooh stuff. It about makes me cry everytime I look at it :)

I loved my Easy-Bake oven. I made tons and tons of little cakes and cookies under that 100-watt light bulb. Was saddened a few years ago, when touring the Smithsonian, to see that same oven on display as a toy of the past.

Yikes, how is the easy bake oven a toy of the past? Is the Smithsonian trying to make us feel old? LOL I always wanted one of those, but somehow just never got one.

I have several, and I still like them now (when I play with my nephews or babysit...):
Legos (I love building things with them)
Barbies (although I had great clothes for my Barbies, I never had the house or the car or any of the Barbie "stuff" -- so I made me own out of things I had -- furniture out of cardboard and small hand-stitched "cushions"; no my nephews don't have Barbies, but I can't wait for my friend's daughter to be old enough to play with them!!!)
Coloring books (I used to love to color and still do -- that 64 pack of Crayolas and me were TIGHT!)
and do books count? Because I was a reading NUT and I still am. I always had my nose in a book growing up...
Oh yay, I knew this would help jog my memory! My favorite toy was my blankie. :) That thing went everywhere with me. It was a tent, a belt for tools, a cape, a parachute, and my absolute best friend. Who knew you could get so much out of a piece of fabric? But I did. I need to go find it and scrap that baby.

well I had this red (and I mean really firetruck red haired) bear. for the longest it at arms leg two eyes and beautiful red long hair. it was stuffed with hay, so he was not soft and cuddly, and least of all pretty, but I loved him. somewhere around 3 years old I decided he needed a haircut and I did that well, I cut his hair up to his skin, he looked pretty well groomed, so I thought. My mum was mad, but hey i did not cut my own hair so what was the fuss all about.:D . over the years he lost both his legs and his arms, and one eye in battle. when I was 25 (still loving him) I moved to the states, and I left him behind in my mums seller well packed up in a box. tragedy struck and the river they where living by overflowed and so did our seller (all my stuff was gone (also the bear without a name, I dont think I ever gave him a name) he drowned, he endured much in his life, but this one he could not survive, he died at age 26, served well all his life. rest in piece my little red short hard bear corpse. I will remember you for ever. okay now I have to go find a picture with the bear and do a lo on him:)

Sputtered up my java on the keyboard. O Donna, what a jolt that must have been! We are of the same vintage so trust me when I tell you I am laughing with you, not at you...

I admit it, I still love to color, too. It's so therapeutic. Now that my kids are older, I have to get my neices and nephews to visit so I have an excuse to drag out the crayon tub. You know, I even like the way they smell.

OMG, ME TOO! Crayola has a museum and factory not far from where we live and I can't wait to take my nephews next time they visit. I love the smell of crayons. And I love it when I can find a friend's child to color with or my nephews feel like coloring. I am still like a kid when it comes to coloring.
