I am posting to elicit an excited response from all of you to inform you of my recent accumulation of communicatory posts! Yes, indeed, I've reached the pinacle or 500 posts.
Not only that, but my long awaited new camera has arrived and I thought it might be a fun discussion builder. I've just purchase the Canon 30D DSLR. My very first full SLR camera and can not wait to learn it's functions.
I'd love to know what sorts of cameras all the photographers enjoy using and specifically, if you are an SLR user, what type of lens you find yourself using most frequently. I'm hoping I've chosen well, but would love your input!

URSULA! WTG!!! Yippee. I send congratulatory and ebullient greetings your way. You posting fool, you.
I am jealous of your new digi SLR. I am so wanting one. You do know you'll have to go photograph your tree with the new camera once you get used to using it!!! ;)

Well CONGRATS!!!!! We all know how hard it is to get to that 500 # ... it takes hard work and quirky dedication. ;-)
And your new camera sounds wonderful. Can't wait to see the results of your experiments with it.
Congrats, Ursula! I wish I could talk photography with you, but I'm still using a little point-and-shoot, and I'm not all that grand with a camera anyway. I can't wait to see your pictures though!

Woowooo!!! Go Ursula!! :D
I have an Olympus E-300, which is a digital SLR. I dropped it lens first over a month ago, but just now got a new (and better) lens to replace the "busted" kit lens. Not sure how it would compare to the Rebel lenses, but you can read the specs of my lens here (http://www.olympus-esystem.com/dea/products/lens/14-54_28-35/index.html), if ya wanna. I love it!! In the future (won't be anytime soon unless I find an awesome deal) I would like to get one with a little more zoom. Until then, I'll just be packing my older digital camera to take along when I think I'll need the extra zoom, which probably won't be often.
Have fun with your new camera!!

Congratulations, Ursula, on the 500 and the camera.
Guess what happened? I was bragging to my husband about your new camera, and guess what he ordered me for my 25th wedding anniversary present? Yes. A Canon Digital Rebel! I'm so excited, I can't stand it. I'll take geek stuff over diamonds any day.

Oh, and I totally agree, cool stuff over diamonds anyday. Diamonds don't do me a bit of good. I can buy a CZ for bling and save the cash for the good stuff! The good stuff will now be cool new lenses and accesories!

WTG, Ursula, I just know you are in "photographer heaven"! I have the Canon Digital Rebel, and I did get a zoom lens too, but I find I am lazy and usually don't bother changing the lens much. I usually need the tripod if I am using a the zoom and I hate dragging that along too!

Congratulations to all the new owners of new geek toys! I am not too handy with a camera (hence the large number of stock exchange photos I use) but I have seen both Ursula and Donna's work and you guys know how to use one--ahh, she drools over all the raw material you can accumlate!
