View Full Version : Not so terribly off topic as I usually am

My block seems to be ending. Usually it is quite abrupt in its arrival and departure but this time it has been far more subtle.

Took some time today to burn stuff (again, missing some pieces. This has happened before and I always swear I am going to batten down the hatches a bit tighter but that doesn't always happen) and to print stuff.

Could not help but notice that my folder for May is tres thin, less than a quarter of my usual output. But started the weekend off with a bang with three ATCs so content.

I have to say that printing stuff is such a neat thing. I have been doing the Simply You challenge at SA and am not that far behind. I have 18 out of 21 done and 1) I am always fascinated by the pieces when they are in hard copy and 2) I love browsing through my album. I also notice that time adds a huge forgiveness factor and some of the stuff I would have deemed trashy had I only seen it on screen has wormed its way into my heart a little when I see it weeks after it has been done and when it is in hard copy. Lesson for the impatient and quick to judge, have they but wit to grok it!

It is so true that given some time, pages always seem to look better! I am waiting on my ink for my printer to arrive, and then I am going on a printing spree too. I love flipping through the pages of my son's album - I think everything looks so much different in print. I always feel proud to see what I've accomplished.

And the month of May will be a big one for me to print because my so-called style took a 180 degree turn. Or, it had a head-on collision, spun around into oncoming traffic, and then landed upside-down in a ditch somewhere. And I dig it.

I think you've passed your block on to me. I'm creating; I just don't like anything I'm doing. Do any of you ever get just too picky for your own good?

Gee, sorry. But creating is good! I wasn't doing anything except squirrely re organisation of my materials. Re not liking what you are doing, you have to be careful, okay? Sometimes you don't like it because it stinks and that stuff can be resoundingly trashed. But sometimes in a block you don't even really know what you like. So, I like to "hide" that stuff away for a while and then look at again. Three possible outcomes: 1) Yup, it stinks. Delete 2) I know what I was trying to do, didn't quite make it. Fix 3) Hey, this is okay! Move out of the leper colony.

Good advice, Kim. I've thrown a lot of stuff in the trash this week. Yikes, hope it wasn't anything decent. (And, before you ask, I never say yikes in real life.)

I do! It is quite handy. I seem to have a number of Yikes moments per day with the odd Holy Cow! thrown in. It is that or swear like a sailor. I am pretty urban and liberal la la la but I have an old fashioned streak a mile wide when it comes to swearing. Not that I don't the odd time nor do I faint when others around me swear.

I have a block right now!! Glad yours has lifted! I dont' know what really works, I just remember my art teachers telling me to use my pencil everyday no matter what. Just stroke on the page and go with it! I try with the computer but this 90+ weather and no air is just killing me!!!

I have been sorting and burning CD's and trying to catch up today. I had company for the last few days but today I finally had some time to myself. I have been downloading all day too. I really need to print layouts, I am so behind on that it is not funny.

Me too. I have no idea what I'm going to do with my new stuff. Sooooo different. Some of the stuff I did could be a cool poster for my wall. I want to do a little book of just my art doll layouts. It'll be interesting to see how I end up putting together all of my printed-out-stuff.

Not only do I say yikes OUT LOUD, but I also swear like a sailor too. I think it's because of my job. Everyone swears in the music business. It's expected.
