Does anyone know if you have to use flux with the solder when soldering the microscope slide charms?

You might check with Nevermore. She used to do stained glass work, so I bet she can help with your soldering questions.

You can buy solder with the flux already in it.
Flux-cored solder (http://www.fluxes-solders.com/Datasheets/IF14.html)

Her is here and I am behind the times! I had no idea you could buy it (solder) with the flux inside! But yes, you do need flux! Don't ask me why. Good grief, I have a hankering to do some soldering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love laying down a bead of solder.

Oh my gosh! You guys would be so proud of me!!!!
I bought 60/40 at Hobby Lobby but I didn't see flux, no knew to buy it. So I went by the hardware store and he somehow knew to ask if I was making jewelry. SO he sold me jewelry solder for silver and paste flux....even knew not to sell me liquid. After trying to figure out the durn iron itself... I ended up doing this....
Flux paste on copper tape with the 40/60 solder. I don't know if my iron is not hot enough for the other solder or what. But It turned out beautifully!!!!
I am soooo proud. I will post a link to the pics here as soon as I get them up loaded!!!!
I love you guys!
