I think it is high time we had another thread in this forum, and hopefully a discussion that will lead to all of us learning from one another...

I will throw a question out to you all..

What techniques and looks do you associate with digital art journaling, and can you share an example and tutorial if you have something to share?

:)

Great topic Christine! I think of painted backgrounds when I think of digital art journals. Here is an example of mine: Hand (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=691&cat=500&ppuser=4)

I also associate stream-of-conciousness or free-flowing journaling. Here's an example: Multiple Personalities (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=164&cat=500&ppuser=4)

Nice topic - I've just started a digital art journaling blog - nothing much on there yet - what would be unique to the digital format? I don't really know - the ability to change what you've done?

The lack of junk mail LOs? Afterall, the junk mail in your inbox on the computer is not nearly as interesting as the one on the mail box outside - LOL

A lightbulb just went off for me here! You are meaning techniques that are UNIQUE to digital! Well in that case - we have the ability to blend photos into backgrounds and blend papers together for that matter. The artistic ability is easier with digital!

I think of being able to paint (so many great brushes out there for this now); doodle; handwrite (so fonts that look very similar to real handwriting very nice to use); layer paper pieces and bits. Fun to scan things in for art journaling, I'm sure. (I haven't done a lot of art journaling yet, so limited concepts here.)

The ability to use anything at all and turn it into something else by skewing, rotating and transforming.

An example of what I mean is Fly (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=913&cat=500&ppuser=49), where I used a capital letter C from a fancy font and flipped and rotated one around and then made a mirror image and thus created wings.

I've written a little 'essay' on this topic of wings, which can be found on my art journaling blog An Illustrated Journey (http://anillustratedjourney.blogspot.com/)

Also being able to apply multiple textures without it becoming bulky and unwieldly

I usually let the picture be it's own journalling, with just a title at most. This time, I tried some journalling because the picture really calls for a little explanation. I prefer a minimalist style, but I did this for a scraplift challenge, I made it as minimalist as possible.
