MAIL SWAP SEPTEMBER 2007: Masks

Uh-oh! My reminder popped up to post the swap for September and I haven't even mailed August's yet. I'm afraid that will have to wait until tomorrow, but I will post the theme

This month's theme was suggested by our bride-to-be, Pam. So, we will be creating ATCs about MASKS this month! Think, masquerade or the masks we where to hide who we really are!

So, if you want to play this month, send me an email (webchyck@comcast.net)with the subject: SEPTEMBER SWAP. Please include your name, mailing address and email address (for you veterans, just reply to this thread saying you're participating...I have your info...unless it's changed). You have until midnight Eastern on September 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until September 30th to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants. (Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself. If we have enough participants in a particular country, we can group them together, otherwise it will be an international endeavor.) Each swap group will have no more than...um...we don't know the upper limit yet! LOL! We like big groups and have been hovering around 15 participants each month. You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of paper and digital you like for this swap.

The money? O no it isn't the money but I was almost three weeks from home to take care of my MIL, she has Alzheimer and my FIL was in the hospital. She can't stay at home alone anymore, so I hadn't the time to made them and when I got finally the time, there was so much work here not done and I was so very tired that I couldn't find the energy to do someting.

Well I posted all my masks on Friday and they take about a week I think. I have been thinking about asking if it was OK to send 2 months together. For me they are all international and cost about $1.35 each stamp. Australia Post has this as a special card rate, letters are more expensive than that. (I guess Judy and Mar have about the same expense) I can send 2 for the same price of 1 and save quite a lot by doing 2 months together. This leaves me some monthly scrapping budget over for kits/elements etc.

I do love doing one each month though, so can you all let me know what you think? :)

It's absolutely fine with me! I just received 3 in one from Alice, and it was like a special unexpected gift! I'm sure none of us objects to 2 or 3 at a time. Every time I post mine, I remind myself how much more expensive it is for those of you in Oz, England, and the Netherlands. You are well worth waiting for!

I know I certainly don't mind getting more than one in an envelope, and as you know, I'm very guilty of sending several at once!

I did find out something interesting when I went to mail this batch. It wasn't the weight of the envelope, but the THICKNESS that cost more to post. When I stacked the cards and wrapped them up, it make it too thick to go through the machine, so they had to hand cancel them. Oh well. Not a big deal to me!

Like Donna, I'm loving trips to the mailbox at ATC time! Judy, your "masked bandit" was adorable. I love the soft green with the purple sparkle. And Mar, your cards were a delight. You two must use a laser printer. No way will my little HP inkjet produce anything so professional!

Nope, I use the Dell printer which came with my PC. I inherited an epson, but I haven't got it set up yet.

Nope, Canon Pixma M160 inkjetprinter, which also can scan and is a copier and (photo)printer in one. Sounds expencive, but isn't (about $90). I'm totally addicted to this printer his photo-options are absolutly great, like the special ATC size. He can handle every kind of paper and photopaper, also transparents and fabric.

Alice, I was particularly tickled by the Spiderman card, as I just took a little quiz that told me that if I was a superhero I would indeed BE Spiderman! LOL!

Well, I have received some September cards even though I bowed out of this month (since it is October 1st I guess I should say last month!)

Firstly: Kate, I was just gobsmacked by your card. I don't think you really had any choice but to send me one even if I am not trading this month because if I ever saw it and didn't have it I would be so so so upset. It is just absolutely the best! In fact, the only other thing you have done that even comes close is the fat chunky page. Not to suggest you are not always brilliant (you are) but there is brillant and then there is totally inspired. Can't put this one in my binder, will have to figure out what I am going to do with it.

Alice: I don't know what or how you got that silver tab on the card but it is amazing!

Mar: are you some kind of genius or what?

Judith: Max has named the Racoon "Rocky Road" (because he is kind of brown) and has made me promise that our next Webkinz can be called Rocky Road.

Victoria: We love the gold glitter on the duck!!! (And I wanna sneak August in here, too. That star is kowabunga!)

That's a small piece of aluminum tape, one of my favorite things to use on my altered art. I use it sometimes to make my "certified" mark on my AEOCs that I sell at comic shows.

I keep telling my husband that if he waits long enough ... I will get everything done that he wants me to do. Maybe someday before we retire I may even clean this house!
