Ever been stuck for lines of poetry to use in your work? I created this image (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1084&cat=519) yesterday and needed some words to give it some oomph, so I did a search for poems about poppies and couldn't find anything. Then I had the idea to Google the words 'patchwork poppy' and I trawled the first page of results (not the websites) for some random words and phrases, then pieced them together. Instant poetry! :)
I doubt if this is an original idea - what is - but I did think it up by myself and so I shall call it Googletry.
I'd love to know if anyone else has fun doing this. I think the rules should be that you use only the first page of results. Just type in two words that refer to your artwork and see what line of prose you can come up with.

What an awesome idea. I'd promised myself I'd clean out the refrigerator today, but this sounds like too much fun. I guess last week's veggies will wait one more day.

THis sounds very neat. I have been promising myself for weeks to do a layout from all the subject lines of the spam mail I get but haven't gotten around to it. So many ideas, so little noodling time!

While you're googling, be sure to type in your new DAQ name. At first, you'll get a few links to this site, but after that, anything can happen. Who knew that to do jujitsu you had to be clear-eyed and able to bend (mentally) like a willow? :)

Actually, Donna, I get this hurled at me fairly constantly from my 6 year old who is in his second year of jujitsu. He invariably adds that flexibility is necessary, too. :)

Crikey! That would be one long poem! ;)
This forum is just so much fun!

Here's another one using Googletry. http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1098&cat=519
I'm afraid much of my artwork seems too staid and introspective. I really must get down and dirty and start quirking!

Gillian, I don't think your work is staid at all. And, there's definitely a quirky factor there. :) Love this latest piece of googletry -- all that dripping is great.

Dear Madge, I see you are posting a storm! I haven't had more than three seconds at a time at the keyboard so haven't had a chance to leave any comments (I guess that is what weekends are for, eh?) but your stuff is looking GREAT.

What a sweet thing to say, Kim. Hope we're going to see a pithy Ravenesque piece of googletry?
Thanks to everyone for indulging me in my fanciful idea. :)

Pithy Ravenesque? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Et tu, Clear Sighted Willow? I am going to ignore these slings and arrows of outrageous character assassination (to mix a few plays together). Actually, now that I am posting a comment to you, I meant to ask you what Art ezine is it that you are getting these wonderful female images from that are populating your garden? Or is there something actually called Art e-zine? Hmmm, I guess you proved your point.

This is a great little website out of England that focuses on off-beat art. You have to dig a little, but there are tons of great collage images. Here's the address: http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/

That is a fab site, I agree. Unfortunately their pages are so huge with the backgrounds all beautifully image-based that I can never fully see all the page before it times out on me! It's so very frustrating. :(
