And this site has been all but dead for a couple of days. HELLO!!!!!! My excuse is I have been golfing. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Enough said about my golf game. Redid my Rolodexes for the new template but have to redo redo Lily of the Valley. I had cheated and merged some layers and inevitably live to regret it. What should have been a simple swap out the old slotted background and replace with the new can't be done. If the definition of insanity is to do the same things over and over and expect different results, well, enough said about my mental state.

Went on a bit of a buying spree and between that and the freebies that have come my way (a big thanks to all), I have a ton of new stuff to mess around with. Gotta get going on my card for the swap but have decided I don't want a raven on it. So, thinking cap on! (thank goodness they make them pointy...)

Like you, I've been shopping, so I have lots of new stuff to work with. Hope I don't become one of those scrappers who buy and buy, but never take time to create. There's an informal poll on another site saying that 15 percent of us spend more than $100 a month on digital kits!
I find that since DAQ began, I've been buying a different type of kit. No more of the cutesy kits I used to buy because they were pretty and popular. And, my regular scrapping style has changed. Since I've been here, my scrapbook layouts have become edgier. And, the strange thing is that I'm getting a much greater response on the other sites. Maybe folks sensed that I really wasn't a pink-and-flower kind of girl. :-)

Perhaps more punk-and-flower? I seriously like your garden stuff. I have no idea how your scrapping has changed but I sure like what I see here.

That poll scares me! I was laughing so hard the other night because SA had a sale and I bought $20 worth of stuff. I have never bought that much at one time ever. Ever. But what I was laughing at is I have a wide format printer, an Intuos Tablet, an upgraded scanner (you get it). Penny wise, pound foolish is the old British saying. As for what I bought, hmmm. Textures, wings, ATC frames, backgrounds and labels. Fairy brushes. Yup, I would have to say that this is outside my normal purchasing pattern.

I was posting on another site re designing kits and someone said yes, altered art material should be considered and I started to respond I am not an altered art person and then realised that maybe I am becoming an altered art person!

I don't think my overall style has changed much, I just don't have the angst I used to have about the fact that I don't use many of my own photos and a great deal of it is not MAD.

I realise, now that cottage time is looming again, that I have the exact same thoughts I had last year which was to get better at photography so I guess that is one thing that I have not gained much ground on at all. Doesn't bug me though. I really have so many things gristing in the mill that I can't beat myself up too much for not being on top of them all. I work more than full time and do try and spend some time on the golf course and some time with my kid. Something has to give a little (looking at MY garden which literally has 3 feet weeds growing...)

I wonder if it is okay to ask what kits you have been buying? Not sure if the hostess would appreciate it given she has a store (although some of my recent stuff is from that store!). If you are unsure about posting maybe you could PM me if you get any time.

Saturday evening here!

I'm finding I do very little scrapping these days - just enjoying playing and creating. Can't download kits anyway, being on dial-up, so I don't even spend money there - sorry Maya!

Don't you find that our style is always changing? Mine certainly is. I feel like DAQ has given me permission to feel comfortable with who I am and what I do.

The forum here always seems quiet - apart from the hard core of Quirksters who regularly post. It's a shame, given the growing number of members. We need to encourage them somehow. :)

Yes, Gillian, changing constantly. I look at some of the earlier kits that I purchased and wonder WHY!!! I think I like one look and then I someone else's LO and change my mind!!!
Nevermore, I can't believe you work full time play golf, have kids (not in that order) and produce so many wonderful things.
I work part-time, have two kids, don't play golf but do a bit of gardening and I don't produce the anywhere near the volume that you do!
Do you sleep or are you just more productive!!!!!

I've been pretty crazed lately too - a buys few weeks at work and since DH isn't working right now, I haven't had my late night time to myself because he's staying up too. It's been nice to be able to spend more time with him, but it's been hard on my creating! I always got the most done after he went to bed at night LOL!

As for style, mine always seems to be changing and evolving some too - I think that's some of what I love about all this, there's always something new to learn and try!

Lisa, will things slow down for you bit in the summer? I do hope so. I guess you should enjoy time with your mate as long as you can grab it! Mine can't keep the hours I do, my late night scrapping is technically early morning scrapping as much gets done well after midnight.

Alison, I only have one child so it isn't that bad. People like Robyn who have four mystify me. I do know how they got them (managed that without taking it in college) but have no clue how they keep them alive or un-lost. Even if I began with four, I am sure three would go missing before the end of the week. I also don't have a social life. I know I am supposed to feel bad about that but I don't. A little
Garbo-esque. I have actually slowed down my volume. At one point I was doing a layout a day. Some of them I still like but some of them irk me so I decided about a year ago not to spend time on anything I wouldn't want to print out. Not that I do print them out, just that that is the standard I try to use.

I honestly don't think my "style" has changed that much. I have always been a poem and a texture kind of girl and that is still pretty much what I do. In many ways I am influenced by the fact that I have never paper scrapped and when I took up digital scrapbooking, that was the first time I learned that scrapping even existed. So a lot of the customs (12 x 12, faux paper etcetera) were never big for me and certainly not ingrained. What I love about this site is simply that my stuff looks pretty tame compared to a lot that is posted whereas at some other sites my stuff stuck out like a sore thumb.

I don't have a clue how to encourage people. The initial kit give away was awesome in getting conversations sparked and going. This may just be the summer lull?

Oh ... I lose them all of the time but they just keep coming back! LOL! They're like homing pidgeons! Sorry I have been quiet. We're on vacation (AGAIN!). We have spent the day in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas at a family reunion. It was fun. Can you believe they have Internet in Arkansas?! ROFL!!!! Talk to you all next week.

I've been pretty quiet too. Going through some reorganization here at home, both digitally and IRL. We got the go ahead, and will be moving August 1! Yippee! But now I have to start packing. *grumble grumble*

Donna, I could have written your post. :) I am buying completely different kits, using completely different things, and even my "cutesy" scrapbook pages are getting cooler. I really love the change that is coming over me since finding this site. And even if the forums aren't hopping here, I still feel the love and feel comfortable just hanging about.

I'd love to know what others are buying too... always curious what's available for quirking, but I don't want this site to get inundated with ads! I can't wait for Maya's Studio Girls unveiling this week - I've seen a couple of the names, and have the feeling that is going to be *the* store to shop at for a long time. Too bad I literally spent all of my paypal money over the last couple of months. I have a zero balance. And probably won't be getting any pay again for a few months (or until I design something again).

I really have to get my ABCs of me page done, and then the cover and page for my OWN Quirkle Journal. I can't believe I haven't done that yet! If you see me here again before I post those, whip me and tell me to get to work, ok?

I think it is slow most places. I know we have had a lot of family stuff, graduations and out of town visitors too. The time I have had to myself I used to meet my DT obligations and finish CJ's and swaps. I have been shopping and buying kits but I am finding myself drawn more to kits that have templates and elements that are things that can be used different ways. Because of my commitments I still am doing more traditional scrapping but I don't mind because I like that too. Sometimes I do find it difficult to use what is available as a DT member instead of what I am really drawn to. But it is fun to get all the free product and the designers I work with are super sweet! What I would like more time for is the altered arts. I have so many supplies and projects I want to do. I also want to get more of my digital pages printed. I found a place that will do 8x8 on glossy heavy paper for $1 a page. They will even send you a free 12x12 sample on three kinds of paper using the layout of your choice. I have more than 270 pages to choose from so I will have to decide which to do first.

Hi everyone! I guess I missed this thread on the weekend, seeing as how it is now Tuesday! Probably because I was too busy having great sex and being spoiled by my adoring husband! LOL! In between all that I did a lot of digishopping, too. I don't even want to total my sprees the past few weeks. I'm definitely buying different stuff--with an eye to quirking. But, I do love me a pretty page kit every once in a while, even though I often wonder what the heck I'm going to do with it.

Also finally bought a FontManager. How did I live without that? I love that I can group fonts and then find just what I'm looking for. Took hours, but I got them all grouped into acceptable categories for my uses. Now to start getting rid of the absurd, the ridiculous, the boring and the redundant. Oh, and install the NEW fonts I couldn't resist downloading last night.

Last night I had fun going through Adobe's Studio Exchange brushes. So, now I have a ton of stuff to install. And I will get to it as soon as I post info about the July ATC Mail Swap! Woot!

So, what is this? Ignore Becky's Sex Remarks Day? I threw you all a perfect opportunity to give me a little razzing and you just skimmed right over it like it didn't exist. My, my, my--where IS that quick wit you Quirks are so famous for these days?;)

Hi all,

Geez Becki, it's nice that you have a sex life!

Well I'm glad things have been slow around here so I don't feel as guilty for being as active as before....I think creativity goes in cycles.

I just bought $35 worth of stuff at Maya's new store which is more than I ever spend but I wanted the free Day at the Spa kit really bad! There's definitely some cool quirk-worthy material over there + a lot of fun vintage/retro stuff. Plus, I know Maya is footing the bill for DAQ & I wanted to return the love...

Then I needed a girlie pinky-poo kit cause all these kiddie's I've been taking pix of are little girls wearing pink! I must have looked at 100 kits but they were too icky poo + the CT's I'm on aren't really into the pink icky poo thing either. Finally found these cool elements called Summer Afternoon at Scrapartist - definite Princess material but cool and different enough to satisfy my inner Quirk.

I don't like 'theme kits' - I like stuff I can use over and over. It's really hard for me to find cool elements that stand out & are different.

Debra, glad to see you back. I think we've all been on buying sprees -- between Maya's opening, the SA sale, and the 4th of July sales, it's been rough on the wallet. I completely agree with you on the girls kits. Even when my daughter was small, I wouldn't have been buying pink and frilly kits. She's just not that kind of girl, and I'm not that kind of scrapper. Can't wait to see what you create with all these new toys.

If you received the complimentary kit A Day at the Spa, don't forget to enter the layout posting contest featured on the blog (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/wordpress/?p=19)--if you're not a CT member for any of the designers, of course. You could win one of these great prizes: the complete Typadelic Font Collection by Ronna Penner, a $25 gift certificate to Sephora.com, 5 CDs-worth of Maya's stuff, or a $5.00 gift certificate to SBG. Your chances are really good right now as we have NO ENTRANTS yet! The contest runs through the 14th.

That's weird - well you can count on me for an entry if I can get my act together...

I'm really enjoying the new DigishopTalk site. They don't sell anything but the TOU are totally commercial friendly so you can talk about kits and sites to your heart's content w/o stepping on any toes. They have the coolest forum where you can check out sales, blog freebies, etc. - very dangerous to the wallet!

The nice thing is we can share the Quirk Gospel there and promote DAQ to our heart's content.

OK, chica, I have posted the first contest entry. Kind of a mystery why no one else has entered yet...it's sure not the kit!

Weird...I usually take hours to do one measly LO but I've managed to produce 3 Lo's between last night and now - all w/SBG goodies. They are so rockin cool that they are just giving me inspiration right and left!
