Okay, I'm driving to Blockbuster this morning and what should come on the radio but a Heart song with these lyrics (and guess who I thought of?)
I was a willow last night in my dream
I bent down over a clear-running stream
Sang you the song that I heard up above
And you keep me alive with your sweet-flowing love!
(Major rock out part right there as Ann Wilson goes Crazy On You!)
It has a stream in the song! And you know where there are streams there are toe-nibbling fish!
See, Donna, you've been inspirational for 30 years and didn't even know it!

It's just a willow sort of day. Did you see the new Willow kit at Scrapbook Graphics? It literally has my name all over it. :) Then, on my way to pick up lunch, I passed a home with the most beautiful willow tree in the yard -- it was the largest tree in the whole neighborhood. I turned to my sister and told her it was a sign. And, now my song is playing on the radio. Getting a little spooky, isn't it?
Hope you picked up my two favorite movies, Big Fish and A Fish Called Wanda, while you were at Blockbuster.

Aw, man, I didn't get your videos, but I'm thinking of watching re-runs of Barney Miller so I can see famed character actor Abe Vigoda in his role as...Fish.
You are having a spooky signs kind of day. I hope you're paying attention!!!

My, so many Willow and fish references in one day LOL! And, yeah, I love that Willow kit too! Carrie's a genius I tell ya! Also, I may run out of money shopping over there - I've been crazed at work this morning so I only got through Maya and Ronna's stuff and I already have tons on my wish list!

Awesome lyrics, I love willow trees. DH says we can't have one because of our well. I have alway been draw to the image of willows, I love how they bend with the breeze and the hiding place they provide with their beautiful drooping boughs.

Willows are great...I have very fond memories of time spent under one on my wedding day (and NOT doing THAT, you guys!)

Becky, those are such cute photos. It's pretty obvious you were (are) crazy about each other. I can say are because you told us how you spend your weekends, you naughty girl.

Now, how can it be naughty?--clearly, we're married! tee hee!

Anyway, look who's talking about naughty--she publicly declares she's a QUIRK HO, and is calling ME naughty!

Now, I'm speechless.
You're not going to believe this. Last night, right before bed, I watched a Miss Marple mystery I had TIVO'd. Guess where the murder was -- at the Willows!

Now I realise what an old prude I really am. I thought Quirk Ho was like Westward Ho! or Gung Ho! I went back up to the blinkie and have reason to believe that Becky is on the right track.

Donna, since this seems to be a willow thread, here are a couple of lines from an old ballad. Sorry, I forget the name but I have always thought they were lovely:
And the willow tree shall weep
And the willow tree shall whine
I wish I was in the young man's arms
That stole the heart of mine, that stole the heart of mine.

.....and...the aspirin is derived from the Salix or Willow, so you shouldn't ever get a headache!
Cricket bats are made from the willow too but I couldn't work that into the conversation.

Before this is through, we'll all be willow experts. Cricket bats? Who knew?
Raven, the ballad is beautiful. I think I'll have to quirk it. And Becky's song, too. See, now I 'have' to buy that Willow kit. :-)

Um, red faced. The willow does not WHINE, it mourns (shows how my perception of the world overlays my interpretation of it, lol). Googled the full ballad for you--would love you to scrap it, personally love turning down the red rose for the willow...
When I Was in My Prime
When I was in my prime, I flourished like a vine.
Along there came a false young man, come stole the heart of mine.
Come stole the heart of mine
The gardener standing by, three offers he made me.
The pink, the violet, and red rose, which I refused all three.
Which I refused all three
The pink's no flower at all, it fades away too soon.
The violet is too pale a bloom, I think I'll wait till June
I think I'll wait till June
In June the red rose blooms, but it`s not the flower for me.
It's then I'll uproot the red, red rose, and plant a willow tree.
And plant a willow tree
And the willow tree shall weep and the willow tree shall mourn.
How I wish I were in my young man's arms who stole the heart of mine.
Who stole the heart of mine
And if I'm spared young year more, and if God should grant me grace.
I'll weep a bowl of crystal tears, and wash his deceitful face.
And wash his deceitful face.

Sorry, just had to google again. I had the cover done by Pentangle and they had changed the lyrics slightly and in theirs the willow does whine! Whew! Was thinking I was such a negative person.
Here's the link to the Pentangle version:

Umm, if you get the idea that I am crazy about people scrapping poetry, you would be right. Probably about 75% of my stuff has a poem behind it.

Kim - you'd never believe it, but my DS came for the weekend today and he gave me a huge anthology of poetry for my birthday. The first page that I randomly chose to look at was ....tada....The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe! :)

Hmm, quirky electricity sparking in the air! What a thoughtful gift, by the way. Is there a connecting theme ie. what was the criteria to make it into the anthology? Other than Norton's (over here, a classic university text) I only have childhood anthologies and all the rest are volumes of one poet only. You are making me think I should drive over to Chapters for a latte and a peek in the poetry section. I have almost never bought "new" poetry. My library frequently sells off volumes for .25 cents. I have managed to pick up quite a few without any dent in the pocketbook; however, I would think a new anthology would be a worthy investment of money.
