...to all my American friends. I expect you're still asleep as I write this and it may not be the 4th yet where you are, but I just wanted to wish you a great day - hope you relax and have fun, however you celebrate it. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/alc.gif

Thanks Gillian! It is hot and steamy here so we will be inside for most of it (except to stand in front of an inferno to get the steak and chicken cooked!). By the way, I was able to post mine when I turned it into a gif. Thanks for the holiday wishes!

Thanks for the greetings. No big 4th plans here. It's too hot, and everyone has to go back to work tomorrow.

I've made no plans for the 4th, but thanks for the well wishes. Am thinking of seeing if my grocery store is open and picking up some bratwurst and coleslaw fixin's. DH wants to grill this afternoon. He's out on a five hour bike ride, so I'm just fiddling on the computer--posted a blog entry at SBG, made my LO for the Simply You challenge at ScrapArtist. Like I said, just dinkin' around. My kids aren't that into fireworks, so we don't go to our town's big doin's. I'd like to see them once, though! If only you didn't have to stay up and out so late to do it!

Becky,
You are my kind of girl! I am the same on New Year's Eve too! It drives my kids nuts!! I just made enough food for 8 people but my Mom is sick so goodbye 4 people (Dad and brothers were all coming together)! We are having marinated chicken (caeser dressing marinade), broccoli salad (the sweet kind with sun flower seeds), corn on the cobb and a peach and blackberry tart for desert. For once in my life I was all prepared with a menu and all of the groceries! Oh well! If you live in the Cincinnati vicinity come on over!

I think I need the recipe for peach and blackberry tart - sounds delicious! :p drool....
BTW, I'm the same when it comes to NYE - can't be bothered to stay up even! ;)

No - it's only 10.25pm here - I'll be up another hour I expect, unless my nose hits the keyboard before then.
Can't stand football (sorry - I know you call it soccer) and I can't wait for it all to be over. I'm enjoying some of Wimbledon though.

My husband likes it but golf is his first love. I can follow a bit of tennis but that is about as sporty as I get. My husband has been known in times of desperation to watch competitive skateboarding if nothing else is on!

My DS watches that. There IS a limit to the enjoyment you can get out of seeing boys in long baggy shorts that drop off their hips, endlessly shooting backwards and forwards on a concrete tube. My DH likes to watch late night Poker channels. Have to say the excitement is a bit underwhelming for me there too. ;)

I finished dinner before I saw your note, but I can be there in time for leftovers tomorrow. :)

Well Donna you might not want to now! My youngest has decided to get the stomach flu along with Grandma (right at dinner time too)!! We will now be quarentined for the next few days while I wait and see who else is going to get it! Being a germaphob, this is going to be a fun few days for everyone!

Alison, I guess this is just one of those parties that wasn't meant to be. Sorry you went to so much work. Hope everyone is better soon.
