Hey there, quirks! I am giving you all a heads-up about a new contest we'll be hosting over at the Studio Matters blog at Scrapbookgraphics (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/wordpress/). A few days ago I posted a little fun bit on Jones Soda Co.'s Carbonated Candy (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/wordpress/?p=55), followed by an update (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/wordpress/?p=66). Well, we had a couple of visits from Luke Vanvliet of Big Sky Brands (http://www.bigskybrands.com/), the maker of the candy, and he took me up on a challenge. I suggested that they should sponsor a contest to see who could create the best altered tin out of one of their candy containers, and he said, "Go for it!" They are going to put up a "summer's supply of Carbonated Candy" to the winner, and Scrapbookgraphics is going to put up all seven of Maya's Collage Sheets (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/xcart/home.php?cat=278&sort=dateadded&sort_direction=1&page=2) (Old Friends, Les Enfants, Passionate Past, Motherly Love, Drama Queens, Beautiful Ladies and All About the Hat). Unfortunately, Luke has to restrict entrants to the U.S. and Canada, and we are asking that entrants use printables from Scrapbookgraphics for their artwork.
The tins are not like Altoid tins, and they are kind of hard to find. You can see what they look like at the Studio Matters blog. They are long and narrow, so you will definitely have to put your thinking caps on to come up with a design. I am working on a sample I will post before the contest begins, July 15th. The contest will run 3 weeks in order to give everyone time to hunt down a tin and create a design, photograph it, and upload the picture to the Contest Gallery (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=581&password=)at Scrapbookgraphics. (You must register in the gallery separate from the store registration to see the Contest Gallery.)
I sure hope all of you will give this a try. We're pretty excited that Luke was keeping an eye out for references to their candy in the blogosphere and found us. Let's show him what we digital artists can do--with paper and glue, even!
