I love vintage images. Whether they are vintage postcards, pictures of family members from long ago, or “adopted ancestors”. They are great for inspiring your digital art! My challenge is to make a LO using a vintage image in any format (eg. atc, 6x6, 12x12). There are lots of resources for downloadable images including these collected by MICHELLE THOMPSON (http://scrapability.squarespace.com/vintage-and-retro-images/). ROBYN (http://robynengland.com/adopt/) also has adopted ancestors available on her site.
Here is an example using an adopted ancestor QUIET PLEASE! (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=322&limit=recent)
a post civil war image EMILY (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=323&cat=503)
and an old picture of my Mom, PADDY (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=180&cat=500&ppuser=13). Have fun!
