Some of us now have Junk Mail from November that will not be tossed into the recycling bin! Time for a new theme though--ready for it? Black & White & Red All Over
If you want to play this month, send me an email (pkeflin@hotmail.com)with the subject: DECEMBER ATC SWAP. Please include your name, mailing address and email address (for you veterans, just reply to this thread saying you're participating...I have your info...unless it's changed). You have until midnight Eastern on December 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until December 31st to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants. (Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself. If we have enough participants in a particular country, we can group them together, otherwise it will be an international endeavor.) Each swap group will have no more than...um...we don't know the upper limit yet! LOL! We like big groups and have been hovering around 15 participants each month. You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of paper and digital you like for this swap.
If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We do have a lot of information about Artist Trading Cards (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/articles/article_atc_becky_march2006.htm) in an ARTicle in our Resource section that might answer any questions you have.
Looking forward to another swap--let's end 2007 sharing more of our ART!!

I know, It's a blushing giraffe, right???? Just kidding! I love the theme and definitely want to sign up.
(OK, I haven't even started on junk mail; but I have an idea and I'm taking Kim's [Nevermore's] stance and saying I'll be late with November; but definitely on time for December.
Sign me up, please, Pam????
(And have a fantastic time on your honeymoon in St. Lucia!.)

that phrase the other night and was recalling a joke in our family: what is yellow and dangerous? answer is shark infested custard. When I was 8, I thought that was just about the best joke that could ever be invented. At 48, having travelled through a few life cycles, I am back thinking it is funny. I have absolutely no time to do this upcoming swap but I missed November and can't bear to miss another month. So, sign me up!

I'm going to sit this one out and get caught up. I have too many ideas swimming in my head that I would like to share with the quirksters. So that is what I plan on doing. Have big fun.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to participate in the red, white and black swap but I have posted an ATC anyway, just for the exercise.

I am overwhelmed with commitments this month so I sadly won't be signing up - but I hope to return all re energised in the New Year :)

With the holidays, this month is way too busy to even THINK about taking on one more commitment...not to mention that it's year end, and I'm in the financial field. *sigh*
With that being said, somehow I can't resist creating. (It's a form of therapy sometimes)
Here's my take on the b&w and red theme. I'll be posting it to my 4 shared and will post the link for anyone who wants it.

Hi all--good to see some are willing to play along, despite the busy season--we will miss those of you who are sitting this month out, but it's well understood :) Not sure what Judy is up to though--LOL--getting even!
Thank you Marie and Jerri for sharing yours via the site--that's great--I will probably print them out for my collection!

I may have been abducted by aliens. Something is terribly wrong. I did three hybrid projects this weekend and tonight I sat down, designed and printed out my ATCs. Now, they are kind of simple but it isn't even the last day of the month yet. If I see anything that even faintly resembles a probe you are going to hear me in every corner of the earth.
Helen, so sorry to hear you are too bogged down but I totally understand! Get your batteries charged girl! Hope you are able to find some self indulgence time in there.

Today my mailbox coughed up a mysterious pink envelope containing a bee-yoo-tee-ful bookmark, and a very clever black & white & red ATC. No info on the back of either. No return address on the mysterious pink envelope. Postmark very faint, but I was able to make out CANADA. To be assured I'd solved the puzzle, I verified only one Canada person in the swap this month. AHA! Voila! It's Kim! The first out of the box in the month of December. Forever more it's Nevermore! Kudos to you, my friend. Both are lovely. Thank you.

Glad to hear the cards are arriving. Very glad to hear people like their bookmarks! Victoria, I almost never sign my work. Honestly, I think it has a lot to do with thinking my stuff is junk. I am trying to boost my self confidence in this area. I detest low self esteem but that isn't helpful because all that gives me is low self-esteem plus disgust at having low self-esteem, rotfl. I really am working hard at it. Perhaps the first step will be to start signing my pieces. As for identification, since mine are usually grim (hmmm, barbed wire dripping blood) it isn't much of a chore. I try to slip a note in but I was hard pressed for time because I really wanted to send a bookmark. Sorry to cause any confusion :)
I have received some cards, too, but have been neglectful in thanking folks. We are now firmly in the middle of beginning our renovation so I have been tied up with contractors, designers, engineers and desparately trying to find a place to move to. Just concluded that today (yeah! we won't have to sleep in a box under a bridge!) and just engaged the movers yesterday (talk about cart before the horse). I think we are tentatively moving on the 4th (it is still a work in progress). Work has been INSANE so I have been a veritable whirlwind. I have a couple of days left to get ready for Christmas, here is hoping it all comes together for Max. So, between now and next weekend I have to do the Christmas thing, pack my house and move. Not to mention work. I am quite exhausted. I do wish I had had my vacation. It certainly does not appear that the next week is going to be much of one! Thank goodness for Christmas festivities, that will help keep the smile on, I hope.
Okay, still no justification for bad manners, I know! I am going to start packing some of my office tonight including my ATC album. I will tuck my cards away first and that will be a good time to thank people.

The 'mysterious' pink envie arrived today, but no mystery as to who sent it, especially since the other Canadian participant's envie arrived too, and she signed her name! Ruth, you cards arrived, on this your birthday! Thank you for the Christmas beauty, and the lovely BWR ~ what a treat. And Kim, your BWR followed the 'what's black and white and red/read all over' riddle Kim style ~ I like it. Many thanks for the gorgeous bookmark too ~ I am in need of one for a book at my bedside, and this will be pefect, since I can't put my hands on another at the moment...
And, a third envie arrived as well (what an ATC Xmas Eve!) ~ Judy, many thanks ~ I especially like your lovely art next to Ruth's BWR!

I am remiss in acknowledging receipt of ATCs! Mea culpa. Ruth - your Roses in December is a wonderful tiny piece of art, delicate and lovely. Judy - yours fairly leapt out of the envelope! Beautiful and a delightful dimensional effect with the rose. Both are treasures. Thank you ladies!

I've been meaning to ask about your lovely bookmark. It feels as if it's printed on fabric. Care to shared what it is, my dear? At the moment it's marking my place in Phillip Gulley's "Porch Talk", a collection of gentle essays about life in small town America.

it is printed on fabric of a sorts. I used canvas. The con is that you lose all crispness of detail but the plus seems to be (from the feedback I have received) that people adore the texture. Honestly, I have gotten more compliments for these bookmarks than any other hybrid project to date and I am a little taken aback. I like them but I have done other stuff that was way more difficult and/or sophisticated. I bought the template bookmarks in a package of ten or twelve and it came with the tassle and the hole punched in the thin paper bookmark. I wanted it to be sturdier and was contemplating laminating them but then wondered about canvas. It is much easier to buy in the States although I believe Office Max has stopped its production, I am sure you can get others. Here it is much much more expensive (ranging from two dollars to ten dollars a sheet) but you can get 4 bookmarks to a page so that ends up being 50 cents a bookmark if you use the cheap stuff. I am going to have to do some more of them, I am still chuckling at the feedback. I did some for kids and even the kids like them.

Kim, I like that your bookmark has art and function :) Mine is currently tucked inside Amy Stewart's Flower Confidential: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful in the Business of Flowers. It's educational and very telling...

Too lazy to go back through this thread to see if I have acknowledged my December goodies to date so I am going to go through what I have!
Firstly, a lovely deep red rose from Judith. Lovely. I thank you and Max thanks you! Then, almost a companion piece from Ruth (did you guys call each other, eh?). They look so good together. I am not going to comment on the wee folded red envelope. People that can use scissors like that need to be registered with the National Scissor Registry. I have applied several times but have not made it on the register yet.
And that is it. So, to answer your inquiry Bev, I have not recieved it. Mail delivery has been and will continue to be severely truncated by all the statutory holidays but I daresay a flood will pour starting January 2nd.
