This month's sweet theme is from our very own Kim the Nevermore! For those of you not familiar with the candy term of Wine Gum, check out this info (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_gum) in Wikipedia (the research helped me out for sure!)

If you want to play this month, send me an email (pkeflin@hotmail.com)with the subject: JANUARY ATC SWAP. Please include your name, mailing address and email address (for you veterans, just reply to this thread saying you're participating...I have your info...unless it's changed). You have until midnight Eastern on January 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until January 31st to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants. (Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself. If we have enough participants in a particular country, we can group them together, otherwise it will be an international endeavor.) Each swap group will have no more than...um...we don't know the upper limit yet! LOL! We like big groups and have been hovering around 15 participants each month. You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of paper and digital you like for this swap.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We do have a lot of information about Artist Trading Cards (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/articles/article_atc_becky_march2006.htm) in an ARTicle in our Resource section that might answer any questions you have.

Looking forward to another swap--let's start 2008 sharing more of our ART!!

Denise, I take it from our recent PM's you're signing up for this one? ;)

That was my suggestion? I swear, I need to be locked up. Of course I want to play! But I think people had better not send mine yet until I get the move sorted out with the post office etcetera. Still kind of up in the air about the details (um, the 5,000,000 details).

I do love wine gums more than any other candy on the planet (Werther's is a close second). I will eat whatever portion is there. If it is a roll, I eat the roll. If it is a whole bag, I eat the whole bag. They are the only edible item on the planet with which I indulge in this behaviour. I do not have a favourite and eat whatever comes to hand. I will even eat them stale. I don't always share my wine gums. :(

Kim, I located the post where you threw in this suggestion - it's post #184 in the March Stained Glass swap thread:
The sad thing, really, for the addicted, is not only would I NOT care if this was a kit conspiracy, I would actually buy the darn thing! Gladly! I love Ms. England's kits. Gotta dash and grab my Caramilk. I gotta eat how many, 16? yeah 16 of them and I am a few behind. I know I added junk mail to the list of ideas but I also want to add Wine Gums because if I am going to eat for the swappers I would rather eat Wine Gums or Werthers than chocolate. I am actually SACRIFICING my snack for this ATC by having to ingest gobs of the stuff.

Unfortunately, I am tied down with family commitments at this time of year but wanted to post my take on the wine gum challenge.

Still laughing at Marie's "take" on jejubes (wine gums). Brilliant! I think I'll opt out this time around. January is a busy month for me. Have fun guys!

Sorry I am not in the swap. I am a newbie here and I will summon up the courage at a future date I'm sure.
Here is my take on the wine gums. It seemed to be such a difficult theme to tackle but it is surprising how the ideas do come up.

I won't be able to participate either but am encouraged by the ones in the gallery so may try one. Looks like fun... maybe next month.

as I look at the empty bag of wine gums and the full bag. Yes, I ate an entire bag last night. Call it research.

Marie, I love your Carmen Miranda. But I honestly think that jujubes are not wine gums. I can't believe you don't have wine gums proper--the colonies tend to have some old sod things and wine gums are pretty old sod (although Wikipedia says they were invented in some Mid Eastern country. I guess that isn't too surprising given the reach of the old Empire).

As for everyone not playing, I hope you all get regenerated and come out in February. I know it gave me the breather I needed to skip a month. As for anyone not playing because they feel they aren't "ready" or somesuch, I assure you that nothing you can do could ever match the first ATC I did for lopsidedness, glue bumps, crookedy corners etcetera.

I do think it is best not to play if you have any doubt or hesitation because the addiction rate is worse than crack cocaine. Do it once, and that is it. I cannot properly give tribute to the real life card--suffice it to say, it paved a slippery road for me and I am now hopelessly churning out hybrid projects. My house is slowly getting packed up but my ATC albums are still out as are my two fat chunky books. I am thinking that they are "car status" which is to say I won't pack them and store them or pack them and give them to the moving company. They will come with me in the car.

Maybe over West they don't have wine gums, but we have both over East (ie wine gums and jubes). :)

There is no other candy that compares to a wine gum. I did some "research" today. Emptied a bag and have another for further studies!

Alice, of course you can play :)

I'm eager to see that 'huge stack'! I know some got returned to you a few months back due to the mixed-up address, so ever since I corrected that, I've been in anticipation of their arrival!! Honestly - I check every day :D
It'll be like an ATC jackpot comin' through the mailbox (our box is a square-ish slot through the wall by the front door, so it would be similar anyway!)

LOL Kim, when we last moved my hard drive travelled beside me in the passenger seat with a seat belt round it, and I drove really carefully :)

Okay, this is the last day of sign-ups. Anyone else wanting to play along with this fabulous topic?! Participants to date are noted in the first posting of this thread.
Non-participants have already shared inspiration in the galleries - I can't wait to see what else arrives :)
Address lists will go out late tonight or tomorrow morning (my time of course!).

Imagine the scene, a diminutive troglodyte sitting at an overstuffed desk with a load of gemstones in various hues and sizes, with a puppy at her feet. The puppy wanted to play. The Trog's hands were shaky and she kept losing control of the gems, which dropped onto the puppy's head until it sparkled in the overhead light. The puppy bounced just as another gem was about to be placed into position of the tiny card and it flew out of the clumsy fingers into the mouth of the beast. No! Shouted the Trog, "Leave it!" despair laced the growly voice while the beast crunched the gem with needle sharp teeth as the Trog tried to extract it from the struggling fluffmonster and rescue the other sparklies from the animal's abundant fur, where they had become firmly lodged and quickly matted the hair into knots.

Appreciate the bling.

First of all Judy - I like the stamp on your royal mail, but then the contents of the envie gave me a chuckle!! How fun, and I have an even bigger appreciation for it now that I've read your puppy predicament - art can be a challenge at times! Thank you thank you :)
Dr. Ruess - would you could you with a fox, would you could you in a box?! Love it!

I guess the Canadian Postal Service doesn't like mail from Florida!!!

I sent out your January ATC on Jan. 17 and today (Feb 6) I got it back with the "moved/unknown/return to sender" lable on it.

So, my dear, you will just have to wait until the Feb. ATCs go out so you get this one to your correct address.

Sorry.
