We have several poets among our ranks, and this thread is devoted to Haiku!
I will start by giving a word - the next person must write a haiku that includes the given word, then list a word for the next person's haiku, and so on. This could be endless, but fun too ;)
Here we go...

First word: bubble

indybev

Beautiful bubble
Happy, airy, light and bright
Alas! Burst too soon.

walls twist - tornado

I didn't see yours when I wrote mine, but yours is WAY better!

He drove a Cougar,
a shiny black Mercury.
He was cool back then.

Now, how about tomato? :o

wmnwrtr
06-01-2008, 02:40 PM
in long ago days
sitting pretty in a row
tomatoes for looks

My m-i-l told me that in her day, tomatoes were considered unhealthy to eat so they used them for decoration on windowsills.

Next word: LOVE

Barry

Donna says I never listen to her. At least I think that's what she says. But I do. Sometimes it just takes a while for the words to sink in and provoke a response.

She mentioned a haiku challenge, and that the haiku had to include "amuse." But that was on Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday. That information sunk into my brain and percolated until yesterday afternoon. I was driving to lunch when the following came to be, unbidden. I call it "Queen Victoria's Place in the Art World":

Ever a patron.
Never an inspiration.
She was not a muse.

I apologize to those of you who hate puns. Donna tells me there are some of you on here. But I've been living with a punster for going on 30 years now, and it rubs off.

I know "amuse" is not the word anymore. I'll try to catch up:
Love is all you need?
Ponder: You need 99 cents.
To download the song.

Am I supposed to set the new key word now? If so, it's "snow."

indybev
02-03-2009, 11:26 PM
Having received a total of 16 inches of it in the past week, snow is a 4-letter word right now, Bear, but I'll try to rise to the occasion,--and thanks for joining us. I was a mused.

Fluffy flakes of snow
Painting all a pristine white
Please! Someplace else go.

New word: Green

kygirl
02-20-2009, 10:07 AM
The trees are mourning
Limbs lost during winter's blast
Awaiting green buds.

CREATE

Pixeldigger
02-21-2009, 03:20 PM
Sighs of mist create
Fingers over the dawn lake,
Swans land, feet outstretched.

Begin

kygirl
02-24-2009, 08:41 PM
Oh, that's lovely, Judy.

Begin with our world
The dawn of creativity
God's great masterpiece.

Smell the fragrant earth
The promise of God fulfilled
In the bloom of Spring

Garden

Pixeldigger

The garden begins anew -
pale green shoots arise.

Whirling in the summer rain,
Don't you see I'm wet?

wmnwrtr
08-12-2009, 07:24 PM

Long ribbons trace the endless miles
Space fills in-between.

Honey

Destroyed by the storm.

Susan's Crafty Chaos
03-29-2010, 06:24 AM

March of decay toward a
Final scream of ends.

And, on a brighter note: cheesecake :D
