Hello all - we're into a new month already - want to swap ATC's again?! This month's theme is Industrial. I know the smokestacks in your mind are already running wild with this one!
If you want to play this month, send me an email (pkeflin@hotmail.com)with the subject: MARCH ATC SWAP. Please include your name, mailing address and email address (for you veterans, just reply to this thread saying you're participating...I have your info...unless it's changed). You have until midnight Eastern on March 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until March 31st (um, or later!) to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants. (Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself. If we have enough participants in a particular country, we can group them together, otherwise it will be an international endeavor.) Each swap group will have no more than...um...we don't know the upper limit yet! LOL! We like big groups and have been hovering around 8-12 participants each month. You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of paper and digital you like for this swap.
If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We do have a lot of information about Artist Trading Cards (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/articles/article_atc_becky_march2006.htm) in an ARTicle in our Resource section that might answer any questions you have.
Looking forward to another swap with you all!! Okay, who's in?

This one will definitely be a challenge for me;
but if I can do Haiku, I can probably come up with
lots of nuts and bolts to do "industrial", right?
So, count me in.

OK, my INDUSTRIAL ATCs are winging their way outward. I took them to the Post Office today and the guy said, "What's in these envelopes?" I told him "washers".
Anyway, be on the lookout - they are coming your way and they've got real stamps on them, not the autostamp thingy they usually put on the envelopes.
I can't wait to see what everyone else's interpretation of "Industrial" is..... waiting, waiting, waiting....

I am putting washers on my ATC's too!! LOL - great minds, eh? ;)
I look forward to how you've done yours - mine are not assembled yet - I don't have everything pulled together at this point, but I have washers!

Oh, absolutely, GREAT MINDS! I love that quote!!!!
Washers are so versatile. Can't wait to see what you've done with your "washers", Pam.

Ruth I came home from the supermarket this afternoon, dumped all my green fabric bags on the floor and then opened your letter. Man did I feel virtuous :)
Thanks so much for the stamps as well as the great and inventive card.

and the first time this has ever happened to me. I got an empty envelope which I think must be from Judith as it came by Royal Mail. The entire flap is gone as are the contents. Oh, this is wretched! Judith, perhaps you can put it up in the gallery so I can see it. At the very least, please tell me whether or not it involves moths.
PamPie
04-23-2008, 01:52 AM
Oh no! :( My Royal Mail also was open wide, but thankfully the contents remained...

Eeek! Nevermore, I am so cross with the post office, there were three cards in there, one was a duplicate for Max and one did indeed have a moth on it. I shall send you a new pack and tape the flap down!
Done. I am glad that most of them arrived safely.

04-23-2008, 07:23 AM
please don't do that unless you really truly want to ! Bad post office. Bad bad post office.
The reason I asked about the moth is because I was going to do my Industrial Card on Industrial Melanism which of course involves the peppered moth. I was waiting to see what you did (no no no, that is not the reason I am late, lol!) because you were the only other person I could think of who might connect industrial with the moth. If that is what you have done, I will do something else.

Who is opening all my mail???? I wonder if it is being done in the uK or US or Customs somewhere? Maybe I shouldn't have made the envelope pretty?

I don't know but it sure is weird!

Judy, what I had noticed is that the envie flap was perferated, and it was opened neatly along that - perhaps the style of envie couldn't withstand the day-to-day manhandling of international travel?
Diginellie

Not that I would for one moment criticise the Canadian and US Postal Services....... but Judy's cards made it all the way to my mailbox here in Australia in mint condition :)

Oh, I've just checked the envelopes and see what you mean. How odd. I shall buy some new envelopes before sending out the next batch. Rats, I bought a pack of 50.

Maybe a strip of tape over seal/perferation would help?

Happy to hear they landed! I got the flu the day after I mailed them and was off kilter for a few days. When I decided I had to stay home, I said well the cards have been mailed so I can stop fretting about that! The Wings isn't official which is why I didn't sleeve it. There are only two rules for ATCs but they are inviolable (for the curious, the size and they cannot be sold). I did have fun with my new Crop o dile which is an eyelet setter and was surprised at how effective eyelets were in keeping the fronts and backs together-- the twist tie is decorative only. It took a lot of work to FIND the twist ties and even though the idea I had for them was not used, I was darned if I wasn't going to use them come hell or high water!
Now planning underwear:rolleyes:

I mailed them this arvo - and I must say that the bubble padding they arrive in are not part of the card - for protective and shipping pruposes only...
Oh, and the postman went a little crazy with stamp placement on some envies...

I have a newbie question. Where the ATC cards posted in the gallery before you sent them out? I would love to see them.:D Kim, usually cards are posted after the sender figures the recipients have gotten them - that way it doesn't spoil the surprise factor ;) I will probably post mine in a couple weeks...

Yesterday your card arrived here Pam - wow, really worth waiting for, it is really special.
Then today Bonnie your Industrial Card arrived - DH emptied the Mailbox and was trying to decipher the note on the envie. I was rather quirkily trying to explain that it was from a quirk but I don't think he got it :) Thankyou its a great card.
