ATC Mail Swap September 2008: Striped Legs!

This month's theme - Striped Legs! Not stripes or legs, not legs or stripes, not stripes and legs - legs WITH stripes! Animal, vegetable or mineral - your card must have an object (or objects) with striped legs! :p

If you want to play this month, send me an email (pkeflin@hotmail.com)with the subject, or a PM (Private Message): SEPTEMBER ATC SWAP. Please include your name, mailing address and email address (for you veterans, just reply to this thread saying you're participating...I have your info...unless it's changed). You have until midnight Eastern on SEPTEMBER 8th to sign up. On the 9th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until SEPTEMBER 30th (um, or later!) to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants. (Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself. If we have enough participants in a particular country, we can group them together, otherwise it will be an international endeavor.) Each swap group will have no more than...um...we don't know the upper limit yet! LOL! We like big groups, though we have been hovering around 8-10 participants each month. You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of digital and hybrid you like for this swap.

I have one newbie question. Where do you have your cards printed?

To the answer to this question with great interest. I get all my pages printed as photos at Costco. If I do that with ATCs will they be stiff enough, or do I have to mount them subsequently?

I won't be back in the country, or at my computer until the third week in September so mine may be a little late in going out. Hope that's OK.

You may get other responses to this; but for me, I just print my ATCs on my home printer (at high resolution). Then you can put any emellishments on the front.
Glue the back to the front.
Put into an ATC sleeve.
Mail out.

Re printing -

I create a new 6x4 document in Elements. Then I drag both my front and back (flattened) into this document and save it as a jpg file. Then I take a CD into a large store near here and print however many I need for about 20 cents each, sometimes cheaper if they are on special. The 6x4 are really cheap to print. I could do them on my home printer this way too but I like the quality of the store's prints. I am in another swap with my Art Group each month (9 of us) and I try to take them in together.

Cindy, I usually stop in at a local sports trading card shop and get a pack of 100 for about a dollar. If you don't have one of those nearby, try Target/WalMart in their Pokemon card area... hope that helps!

My Striped legs are all cut, glued, addressed and will be mailed tomorrow :) You can expect them in about a week.

hi--just lurking on the ATC thread! You can get the sleeves at any trading card shop--they are used for baseball cards or Magic cards or whatever. Sometimes you can get them at comic stores and I think Wal-mart/target sells them too.

My September ATCs are printed, hybridized, and put in their envelopes, which have been addressed. Now I just have to put postage on and get them to the mailbox.

So, they are going out tomorrow.

My neighbour who was collecting our mail has asked me for the stamps (they are impressive), he wants to send them to his sister in Holland who collects them. They would then be really well travelled stamps :) But I'm not sure I want to part with them.
