Thanks go out this month to Quirkster Marie for her suggestion of an Andy Warhol themed swap! Of course, the famous Marilyn piece or the Campbell Soup can come to mind, but the man had other works of art, you know! His collections can be viewed at the Warhol Museum site online (http://www.warhol.org/collections/index.html). I'm hoping that gives you plenty of inspiration for this month's swap! As Marie said, it'll be "fun for blending and bizarre layering and colours!" I agree!

So, if you would like to participate in this snail mail ATC swap, please send an email to me (mailto:webchyck@comcast.net) with the subject: SEPTEMBER SWAP. Please include your name, mailing address and email address. You have until midnight Eastern on September 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until September 30th to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants. (Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself. If we have enough participants in a particular country, we can group them together, otherwise it will be an international endeavor.) Each swap group will have no more than 9 participants (including yourself). You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create nine unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of paper and digital you like for this swap.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We do have a lot of information about Artist Trading Cards (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/articles/article_atc_becky_march2006.htm) in an an ARTicle in our Resource section that might answer any questions you have.

I'm looking forward to this swap...it promises to be very colorful, just like Andy Warhol himself!

You won't believe what I found at an antique store (but it's boxed up, :()...

Looking through old cookbooks for ephamera, I found one illustrated by one "Andrew Warhol". They're all pen and ink drawings, but they're very stylized and edgy - as much as one can be in a cookbook from the 70s.

Good thing the owner didn't know what she had on her hands, or I'd have paid more than $5 for it! lol

Can I play again? I had a lot of fun last month, and I'd love to show off more wonderful DAQ ATCs! (how do you say that? "Dack-Acks?" lol!)

There are a multitude of Warhol tutorials on line. I tried three of them and they produced very different effects. Unfortunately, as mine hostess is well aware from my "throwing women off the cliff" example, I am mathematically challenged. Which is to say I have three Warhol Rolodex cards. I am now waking up to the fact that I am in an ATC swap. Back to the drawing tablet.

I have reread the rules and we have until SEPTEMBER 30TH to get these little puppies finished and mailed. So what is with the people who are already done? Can you say "over achiever" rhymes with "eager beaver"? I am still pondering what kind of Warhol. I haven't even got the gleam in the eye, never mind conception and birth! Kinda sputtered out a little after I did three Warhol Rolodexes.

Do we have to wait until after the 30th to put these up here for viewing? I would love to see what the keeners have done so I can ooohhhh and ahhhhh (and yeah, possibly steal...)

Pondering an edgy Warhol 70s cookbook: multicoloured meat loaf? Jello with a soup can in the centre? Manson cookie cutting tips?

Kim - you are craching me up! I agree - a Warhol cookbook could be cool!!

LOL, no, think more angled glasses/jars, sharp edged handles, etc. I guess it was a "I have to make money" phase, rather than a "create whatever I want" phase. :)

Great Haiku, Judith.

Sorry, I'm a lazy beaver, haven#t got the cards ready yet. But somehow, I'm a bit confused now. Are we sending them to everybody now, or only to our group?

Well, All this "got my cards in the mail stuff" is freaking me a bit. Still haven't finished my card yet. But I did buy a corner punch! Can't find the thread where Becky is f"ing" her head off. Hmmm.

P.S. Have since read Becky's article on ATCs. Delighted to learn that I am not blethering at all, I am building community! Just what I needed to hear at 5:30 in the morning of a long dreary night. Perked me up immensely.

Rikki, if you can handle it, please stay confused. It gives me great comfort. :D
