I've been noticing lately that I (and others!) have a habit of getting off-topic in the forum threads lately. We just have so much fun chatting and sharing and getting to know each other we kind of lose focus LOL So I thought it might be a good idea to start a bunch of actual Off-Topic threads where we can chat to our heart's content and not feel so guilty about it! LOL (also it's great for getting post counts up! and really people, isn't that the most important thing of all? LOL!!!)

So since I have movies on the brain today I thought I'd start a movie thread.

I'm going to be seeing either Benchwarmers or RV this weekend. It feels like forever since Robin Williams has made a comedy so I'm looking forward to RV. But I'm a huge huge Napoleon Dynamite fan so I can't wait to see him in Benchwarmers. Ah . . decisions decisions . . .

So anyone seen any good movies lately? In theatres or rented?

Don't make it to the theatres much except for kids shows. Rent lots though. Tonight we're watching either Walk the Line or Fun With **** and Jane.

I usually make the opening weekend of the latest kids' flicks (age appropriate for 7 year olds), but don't get to see my kind of movies in the theaters. I've been dying to go see my hearthrob Matthew in Failure to Launch, but hasn't happened yet. I'm grateful for Comcast's On Demand. Watched one of my other favorite movie stars, Dennis Quaid, in Yours Mine and Ours today. It was a nice take on that classic flick. I really enjoyed it. I've also got Vongo on my computer, so I get to see some neat stuff that way, too. I just watched Fun with **** and Jane the other day (rented from Blockbuster)--it was funny enough--what a great concept, actually. Fun watching them try to hide their downward spiral. Enjoy it! Walk the Line is bittersweet and wonderful (but close your eyes during the scene with Johnny's brother, in case you don't know about that part!)

Thanks for the heads up Becky! I really don't know anything at all about either movie.

I love napolean dynamite, too, Michelle! I just got such a kick out of him! I bet benchwarmers will be really funny.

I saw Fever Pitch the other day with dh and we laughed and laughed! I'm a big red sox fan, and the year they made it to the world series, I had paraphenalia all over my house just like jimmy fallon! My whole family are baseball fans, so it was pretty close to home...

My favorite movie of the year so far was Pride and Predjudice...ahhhh..so romantic and BEAUTIFUL! I loved it!

Anyhoo....fun to have a movie thread going here!! :)

Well we ended up going to see RV and it was pretty darn good. Highly recommend it if anyone is able to get out to a theatre. It's a cute family movie if you have teenagers (don't bring young kids!) and of course Robin Williams is hilarious. I think we'll go see Benchwarmers next week instead.

I actually haven't seen Pride and Prejudice, Walk the Line, or Fun with **** and Jane so maybe I'll check those out this week . . . .

I fell asleep half way through **** and Jane. My DH didn't like it much and gets really annoyed when I fall asleep. My theory is a movie needs to be good enough to keep me awake or I don't waste my time. LOL! I have slept through so many movies. The couch puts me to sleep every time!

Um, yeah. I get annoyed when people fall asleep during movies too LOL I once had a friend fall asleep during an episode of Lost. Now THAT was the ultimate insult! She was banished from my home forever! LOL! j/k

UMMMMM ... I must confess. I have even fallen asleep during LOST! Are you still my friend? I'm telling you - the instant my butt hits the couch I am sleepy! It's my tranquilizer.

Well I must say I am disappointed in you Robyn. But you can still be my friend :p
You must have one heck of a comfy couch. Maybe you could try watching tv sitting on the floor. Or better yet, standing up! LOL

Or I could just watch it on my computer! That never puits me to sleep.

I have to say that when I watched Lost season 1 on DVD I was AMAZED at all the details I'd missed watching it on TV. That's why I didn't even bother trying to catch this season until it came out on disk.

The geeks at work said you can download it and watch it on your computer though...I guess they have whole sites w/TV shows you can watch...

Hey I just noticed you graduated to "Hard at Quirk"...Maybe we should have a 'beat Robyn' posting contest hee hee. I'm going to start recruiting some monkeys to help me out.

My monkeys work around the clock! But every 108 minutes I have to give them a banana.

LOL Robyn. That seriously made me laugh out loud. You're too funny.

And Debra I think your 'beat Robyn' contest idea is fabulous except maybe a little too late. She's only missing 41 posts and she can probably take care of that in an hour or two so I dont' think I'll have a chance LOL!
