Name (first only): Ann

Country: United Kingdom

Area (state, city, province): Leeds, West Yorkshire

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better:

I retired last year, and started my second childhood, but before that I was a quality manager for 5 years and prior to that a training manager. I've been married (happily) for 42 years and I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren plus a step grand daughter.

I used to paint and draw, but family and work commitments mainly put a stop to that for a long time, so now I hope to get back into it.

As a compromise I've bought myself a Wacom.

I've been researching my family tree for about 6 years and can take one branch back to the late 17 hundreds and have over 1000 people on my extended family tree, and I'm lucky enough to be the custodian of the family papers and photographs.

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.):

I like digital art of all kinds including ATCs, Postcards, Collage and Altered. I want to get into Journals but haven't painted or drawn for so long I'm still only thinking about it, though doing it digitally presents no problem. I like photography and take hundreds of 'point and shoot' photographs, many of which I use in my work.

We live on 5 acres with horses and chooks. We volunteer at Riding for Disabled one day a week. I majored in Italian Language as a mature age student at university, graduating at age 46. I have travelled extensively in Italy. I used to work as a personal development trainer in a HR capacity for a Telco. As far as links in the gallery go, we prefer that you don't use them. We try to keep the emphasis off the advertising and on the art. Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome and the answer. No links it is -- but I can still credit the designers, right? Most of the kits I use have that as part of their TOU. I want to follow everyone's rules. Except of course, in my creation of art, where it seems there are no rules. Hooray for that!

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better: Be prepared, because I have a quirky sense of humor :) Currently I live in the Southern US with my husband, two dogs, and my son (who occasionally keeps moving back home to live in our garage apartment )

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.):
I love altered art! I also like to do ATCs. I am also the "Official scrapper" for my Sister's photos, so I regularly do typical "kids on vacation" and "family picnic" layouts for her and her family. (Well, sometimes they are not so "typical"......like the time I turned by Brother-In-Law into a flying pig for the cover of the invitations they were sending out for their barbecue.:p) I'll be sure to post that one here!

I am so happy to be here...I have been looking for a "home" of like-minded artist and quirky folk. I have been perusing the scrapbooking forums, but all that I have found seem so...lacking somehow, though very friendly. But I am ready to play here!

Thanks for starting such a great place.

Edited to add: Opps! My first post and already I broke the "rules". I see I was supposed to fill out info from the first post. I will come back and do so tomorrow, it is very late here. :-)

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better: I am new to scrapbooking, I have been having lots of fun. I have always wanted to stretch my artistry wings, so to speak. I am very quirky, and love those who "think outside the box".

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.): Art journals appeal to me immensely.

Any questions you have about the site: I am wondering when the site was opened, I mean how long has it been here? And I am VERY glad you all do not focus on advertising products here or only featuring art that has been done with product from the store. I really, really dislike that about other sites.

Liv, the site was founded back in early 2006 by Maya of Scrapbookgraphics. She wanted to develop a refuge for artists and scrapbookers whose work was a little too quirky for traditional sites.

My husband and I purchased the site at the end of last year.

Name (first only): Sara (my online name is Cyberdelia)

Country: USA

Area (state, city, province): Right now Tampa Bay area of FL (FL native!); in June, I'm moving to Phoenix, AZ! I am so excited...can't wait. :-)

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better: I'm new to digital scrapping but not new to working with digital images. I've had my own website since '97 (egad!) and have been doing web design/photoshop/html/etc since then. Lately my blog is more about my artful endeavors and stuffing it with content than about the aesthetics of "design," haha, and in the middle of surfing art blogs I stumbled across digital scrapping...and haven't looked back since. It completely satisfies my desire to do digital design.

And here's a "quirk" about me...I never got into "real life" scrapping because while I thought all the papers & elements were gorgeous, I couldn't justify buying any and then using it once (and possibly not liking it) and then poof, it would be used/gone. I didn't want to spend that much money (because I'd want to buy everything) on things that could only be used once. But digital scrapping...oh goodness, I can't stop finding & buying kits I love, and there aren't enough hours in the day to make all the layouts I want to try! And I can use & reuse to my heart's content...I've tried some things and hated them, tried some that I love...and the great thing is that I can keep on doing it endlessly, lol.

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.): Digital art/scrapping/journaling, photography, mixed media, polymer clay, watercolors.

Any questions you have about the site: None so far...am just starting to explore! This looks like a great place. :-)

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better: I'm a London girl at heart living in California with my hubby and son who was born in 2006. I've been digi-scrapping since July 2008. I found it a HUGE learning curve getting to grips with PhotoShop - I am still learning and growing.

I recently (like yesterday :-) got interested in Altered Art after spending some time in DancingScrapper's gallery. So last night I stayed up until 1:30am to complete my very first ATC for the Tangie Baxter challenge over at ScrapbookGraphics - it was wonderfully fun!

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.): I'm a complete newby here and I'm open to all things new - the gallery here is awe inspiring!

I am just curious and lurking around for now, or maybe I should say I am lurking because I am wondering how I got here in the first place. From what I can see, i registered in April this year and cannot for the life of me remember why I registered, but ohhhh, the introduction by Maya is fantastic and pulled me in once more.
I am short of time right now but will make a more serious effort to check this site out. Not so sure if I could be of any use because my passion is heritage and grandchildren and scrapping but I also love altered art and journaling.
I am a member at SBG, love it and love the work there. Though there are days or times when i feel a little out of place since the community strikes me as 'very young' and I am retired, and a grandmother.....and come from digitalscrapbookplace where I am used to also older members and grandmothers.
Soooo.......alright, I am new to this. Live in Ontario, Canada and love digital scrapping/art though haven't spent much time in altered art since I am concentrating on writing a book on my heritage and roots for my family and archives....not much time left for much else also because I am writing a biography and love working on pages for my grandchildren. And building a dollhouse...and travelling and music and reading....well, and sleeping.

Will try and come back later and hope I will fit in somewhere.

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better: I have been wandering about the digital world since Jan or so and have stopped at a few places-to scrap. Before that I paper scrapped and stamped, and before that I crocheted and before that I dabbled in ceramics and before that... anyway if you were to ask my students about me they would tell you that to define me as quirky would be an understatement (my advanced students-my other students would just say I am crazy) so I think this web site might just suit me well.

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.): scrapping pics clean and straight and grungy and skewed. I would love to dig a bit deeper in the altered art of art journals and I love photography-once upon a time-many moons ago, I was even paid to take the portraits of children on my traveling pony!

and my name-I use MsP and fresshe - fresshe comes from Middle English and it means fresher than fresh-something beautiful-like a new beginning-it is my favorite word from Middle English

Hello, Fresshe and Daisy. Welcome to DAQ.

Fresshe, you'll find that many of us dabble in all kinds of art. I've tried everything from crochet to oil painting to beading. Right now, when I'm not doing digital art, you'll find me in my scrap room making books and cards.

Daisy, I do hope you've found your resting place. If there's anything we can do to help you navigate the site, just holler.

Some people have no albums and some like to use them to organise "series" or "themed" collections. If you have done a piece for a particular challenge (like the Stock Photo challenge or the Quirkle Challenge) you may find that it has its own gallery. We are pretty non rule based around here. Said as an understatement! Quirks get all hot and bothered if you try to herd them :)

Thank you @nevermore. I tried to upload it into the stock challenge gallery twice yesterday, each time it said the upload was successful however I don't believe it was. I tried it again a bit ago and same thing. Because I'm a new member are my photos pending admin approval?

I wonder what the heck is going on? Are you sure that it is under 150K? Our limit may be 200K but I always use 150K (or, I think I do. I am addled). It may not be processing if it is too large. Can you double check that?

To try to trouble shoot this, I downloaded your beautiful entry to my drive and uploaded it here with no trouble, so the problem is not with the file. I deleted it out, of course, because it went into my gallery and you will want it in yours. Maybe you're missing a step somewhere in the uploading process.
Stepwise, you should ,,,
Choose gallery: Stock photo, Enter
Browse: Browse your drive and highlight your entry, Enter
Type title. Enter.
Type description.
Arrow down and click on Submit.
I'm at a loss to guess what the problem might be.

I have tried to upload a layout of 124 kb but cannot see it in the gallery. It apparently uploads but when I check the gallery it is not there. So I tried to upload altogether three times. Sorry.

I host the monthly ATC challenge so you might want to look this week in the forum for the start of the new November challenge. Even if you don't want to join in this time you can follow the forum to see how it works.

We are a friendly and relaxed group so just join in any of the forums or challenges whenever you feel like it. Or if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask ........ someone will be able to help.

Enjoy.

If no one has suggested it, look to the top of the page where it says HOME GALLERY COMMUNITY, etc. When you put your mouse over COMMUNITY you will see below it the word Forums. Click on that, and you will see the "map" of where things are in DAQ, and the date of the last post in any area. Just investigate all the categories to familiarize yourself with how DAQ works. I hope this is helpful. We're happy to have you here!

I'm not sure what you mean by subscribe to a user's gallery, but if you mean being able to browse through a user's gallery, just click on a picture by the user, when the picture comes up, you will see underneath (bottom right) a clickable link that allows you into that particular user's gallery. ;)

Thank you all. Ozstuff, you are quite right. I have been looking at the two challenges you suggested, and they are indeed Challenging! I need to look around both some more. What wonderfulness displayed there! One of my personal goals is to use my own photos and art in my digital presentations. This kind of limits me as to resources.:( I am not opposed to kits and such, as I have some, but I do want to learn how to do these things myself. Is there a place for me here, somewhere? Both challenges interest me, and I have alot of 'work' to do. I may disappear for awhile as I am getting a new computer soon. But I will be back. I did upload a recent collage in my albums.

Ceevee, you'll find a lot of pieces in our gallery that were created primarily without the use of kits. Ozstuff does some wonderful stuff using ArtRage, and you might want to check out the galleries of Artist in Residence and Nicole Hinrichs for some more examples that rely primarily on the artist's own photographs and creations.

Welcome to DAQ, Loma and Susan. I'm sorry it's so quiet around here now. All of the Quirks are apparently out enjoying this lovely spring weather. If you have any questions or need assistance with the site, just shoot me an e-mail at admin@digitalartquirks.com. We're so glad to have you aboard.

Hi everyone, well I guess I should introduce myself :)

Name (first only): Suzie

Country: England

Area (state, city, province): Essex

Any personal info you'd like to share to let us know you better: I started paper scrapbooking in 2000 I think, and lately have gotten into art journalling more, and the occasional dabble in a mixed media canvas. New to the digi stuff, but really enjoying finally learning how to use the Photoshop I've had on my computer for ages! I'm married with two children (boy and girl, 8 and 11) and I work 3 days a week in a child mental health clinic, which I love.

What kinds of art do you like (ATCs, art journals, photography, etc.): all of the above! I'll have a go at anything to be honest!

Any questions you have about the site:

Your website or blog: My blog (http://suziemakesart.blogspot.com/). I started up a new blog when I started doing the digi stuff, so there's not that much on there at present, but I *hope* I will update it regularly!
