I've been seeing Vision Boards popping all over the net, and it occurred to me that this would be a wonderful topic for an art journal.

What is a Vision Board? Here's a description from Christine Kane's blog (http://christinekane.com/blog/how-to-make-a-vision-board/):

A vision board (also called a Treasure Map or a Visual Explorer or Creativity Collage) is typically a poster board on which you paste or collage images that you’ve torn out from various magazines. It’s simple.

The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires.

If you've already done a Vision Board or Journal, link us up. If you'd like to give it a go, I'd love to see what you do.

I am reminded of a popular book in the early 80's about imaging your way to success. (I thought that was the title, but I can't find it now). I was active in Toastmasters at the time, and I crafted a speech called "What You See is What You Get". Unfortunately, I didn't keep a copy. I well remember practicing the concept of mentally picturing a desired goal and the thrill of achieving it.....an exercise in the "power of positive thinking" ! "The Secret" and vision boards seem to be the same concept recycled, and I am sure just as effective!! Great idea.

I was a Toastmasters gal back in the 80s, too. Such a yuppie, in my power suits and high heels. Looking back, the woman I am today has very little in common with that young go-getter. :) My vision board today would be filled with pictures of country retreats, travel and family. Back then, it would have included promotions, nice cars, and designer clothes. Oh, what a difference a few decades make.

Sounds interesting, but I'm not too sure how effective it would be for me.

I have to admit, I haven't changed all that much from myself in the 80s to now. I'm a bit more relaxed and I certainly have a lot more confidence in my art abilities.

I created a vision map one time. A few things did not happen due to health reasons. I was sorely disappointed. However, I am older and wiser so maybe I will try it again!
