This Vlad Studio tutorial on making watch parts (http://www.vladstudio.com/photoshoptutorials/tutorial.php?patek_philippe_watch_making_of) is just amazing. It's not for the faint of art, but the results will surely make the effort worthwhile.
I don't plan on following the tutorial exactly. I'll be using actions to get the metal effect and some of my stash for the ornamentation, but it's interesting to see how this artist combined basic shapes to create something complex and beautiful.
Update: Okay, guys, this one is really hard. Maybe I should have tried it before I posted it. :-) But, if you don't do anything else, look at how he uses the shape tool to make decorative circles. It's a great technique that can be used in all kinds of design.
Note: Because we're working in many different versions of Photoshop and Elements, your program may vary from the one in the tutorial. If you run into a wall, just post and we'll work through it together.
