This month's challenge theme is : WINGS AND THINGS

If you want to play, send me a PM (Private Message): JULY ATC SWAP or email me at (himandme1@tiscali.co.uk) with the subject. Please include your name, mailing address and email address.

You have until midnight British Standard Time on July 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until the end of July to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants.

(Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself.)

You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of digital and hybrid you like for this swap.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

We do have a lot of information about Artist Trading Cards in an ARTicle in our Resource section that might answer any questions you have.

Looking forward to another swap with you all!!

Glad to hear they're arriving, Jayne.

I have a huge stack of mail in my kitchen (I haven't read the mail, just stacked it, for weeks). I know it's just full of DAQ goodness. I can't wait to see what you've all done.

KYGirl/Donna,

Got your cards yesterday...both so different in feel and sentiment;one comfortable and familiar,low-key...and the other a definite whoa!- look-at-that-one again!
Thank-you very much!

Your finishing is something else again- I'm gobsmacked about it, as I usually do an glue down of photo paper to heavier black photo card, and usually the creation info typed from my processor onto paper ....

Yours look laminated on top; and the paper/card stock itself itself is pretty heavyweight; and looks stamped out shape-wise.....how in the world do you add this kind of finishing?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Regards,

Chris/WildGoose

Carol, so glad you're enjoying the cards.

I printed the art side of the cards on Epson's high gloss paper (I use an Epson Artisan printer), and the backs on a matte card stock. I ran the fronts through the Xyron, and then added the backs before trimming them out. I think the trick to getting a really good edge is in the scissors. For ATCs, I use the small ones from Cutter Bee. After cutting out the cards, I used a corner rounder, and finished the edges with brown ink (Colorbox Cats Eye chalk).

I used Lisa Cohen's ATC brushes for the backs. She's no longer designing, but I think Maya and Nancie Rowe Janitz have similar items in their stores.

Thanks so much for the Info; I hope to use some of it in future!

My Epson uses archival ink; and I"ve got the high gloss paper.....so that's good!
Have a wee,wee Xyron that I think goes to 2 1/2" ( hope, hope )somewhere in the stuff-I"m-saving-to-use-one-day vaults!

peppapig/jayne-

Your whimsical and definitely quirky yet-still-a-lady card arrived today...Thank-you!

PS-
A "next generation" Canadian perspective on it:

As soon as my teen saw it she said, very definitively "That one's from England!"

I asked, why she would say that, thinking she'd make a connection to Python's Terry Gillam"s weird and wonderful creations ( knowing she's seen the show a lot )...but what she said was,

"It's the TEASPOONS!"

Sorry for taking so long to say thank you for the June and July cards. Between illnesses and my trip, I really let the mail pile up. So, in no particular order...

Valerie, I love all your clown faces, and the color scheme is great.

Victoria, how brave of you to mock your own fear of clowns. Way to go.

Jayne, your lady is just beautiful. Like Chris's daughter, I love the teaspoon arms. And I didn't even have to turn over the juggling pig card to know it was yours. It made me laugh out loud.

Ann, your little winged princess is just gorgeous. Those little tennis shoes were the perfect touch.

And, Carol, your card is so dark and mysterious. I love the purple against the black and silver.

I can't wait to add these to my ATC book.
