Atc challenge swap - august 2009

This month's challenge theme is : CHARLIE CHAPLIN and I hope it inspires you all to join in.

If you want to play, send me a PM (Private Message): AUGUST ATC SWAP and please include your name and mailing address.

You have until midnight British STANDARD Time on AUGUST 7th to sign up. On the 8th everyone who has registered will receive a list of all the other artists with whom they will be trading. You will then have until the end of AUGUST to create, print, and mail your artist trading cards to the other participants.

(Keep postal rates in mind before you sign up as you are responsible for mailing the cards yourself.)

You may create one ATC based on the theme and replicate it for everyone or you may create unique ATCs to send out. You may also use any combination of digital and hybrid you like for this swap.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

We do have a lot of information about Artist Trading Cards in an ARTicle in our Resource section that might answer any questions you have.

We've had about 9 people doing the ATC swap lately. I don't ever remember having 30 people sign up for this swap.

Carolyn, I would agree with Victoria, 9 is likely to be a max, 30 just doesn't come into the equation .... we are small and friendly. :D So if you'd like to join in that would be great, just send me a pm with your name and address.

I am NOT a happy camper. A couple days ago I went to grab my baggie with all my supplies to start assembling my cards... and it's MISSING!!! The best I can figure is they got dropped somewhere and they're history now : ( SO... tonight I'll re-print everything, tomorrow I'll cut, the next day I'll assemble and on Monday the cards will go in the mail. I'm SO sorry about this. Not a very good impression for my first swap, I'd imagine : (

Oh, that's awful, Carolyn. I hate that you're doing double work. Don't worry too much about the deadline. Around here, we look at them as suggestions, rather than hard and fast rules. :-)

Ann, your gorgeous card showed up today. Love the red phone booth. The back of the card is almost as wonderful as the front.

Mine are printed, so I should get them assembled and in the mail tomorrow.

You know what Carolyn as soon as you've remade and sent your cards, the missing bag will turn up ...... it's Sod's Law! Anyway, don't worry about impressions, we are here to enjoy ourselves and make art, and if cards arrive a little late, well, it's no big deal. Ooooh I can't wait now to see what you did.

Yesterday I got cards from Helen and the Yorkshire Lass : )) They're both WONDERFUL! I just love them.

But now I have a question... and maybe I should have gathered this from the name of the forum. Are they supposed to be created digitally and then printed out? In a sense mine ARE that way- I used all supplies from my digital scrapbooking stash and printed them all out then cut and pasted, but they're not nice and smooth like yours are... Did I mess up?

Carolyn you didn't mess up, on the contrary there are no rules here on how you create your art, you are welcome to make your ATCs from any medium you choose : paper, card, fabric or digital (or) a mixture of any or all of these. The only rule around here is to have fun creating and swapping. So go for it and enjoy. :D

Whew!! Okay good LOL. Now while I'm extremely curious to know what your card is printed on?

I just use plain old photo paper, glossy, usually around 200 weight, and print on a glossy photo paper setting. :D

I use a matt card just because I like it better than glossy for cutting and gluing etc. - but this is only a personal preference. In fact anything goes - even fabric. This is what I love about ATC's, you never know what you are going to get and its all great.

Hmmm... just realized I didn't make a scan of my card LOL. I'll whip up one more and scan it for the reveal, totally slipped my mind.
