The theme this week is “Slightly Surreal”.

My dictionary version of “surrealism” is “a movement in literature and art based on the expression of imagination uncontrolled by reason and seeking to suggest the activities of the subconscious mind”.

Well, I wake up some mornings, feeling slightly desiccated, not unlike a dried up leaf in autumn which is awaiting the fate that will pluck it off the tree and send it to the scrapheap below. Hmmm. Could this be a metaphor for my life? An idea for a picture develops in my desiccated mind.

So there you have it. I love the idea of imagination being uncontrolled by reason so I have come up with a completely ridiculous “slightly surreal”.

Even though autumn is the theme for my sample picture, feel free to let your subconscious mind take over on any theme with a surreal flavour ….. or you might be feeling desiccated too!

There are no rules, no size restrictions, no particular style. Just post your luverly pics in “The Artist’s Studio” gallery and leave a link back to it in the thread.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!!

Post your picture in the Artist's Studio Challenge gallery and link it to this thread.

Marie, there is nothing better than surreal so I really hope there will be more of them. I enjoyed this one so much.

What a fun challenge, Marie. I have an idea in my head. Now all I have to do is figure out how to create it.

Playing on Marie's idea of the "activities of the subconcious mind," I did this one based on a strange dream I had last week. In the dream, I was riding down the highway on a tricycle (only in a dream) heading towards my future. So, inspired by Robert Williams, I came up with this, http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=6939&cat=578.

I gave it a go. I am not sure if I really made it surreal or not (maybe just slightly, lol?)
