"This week, we take altered art to the Post Office. I was introduced to “postage stamp people art” through a blog challenge earlier this year. The idea is to find a suitable stamp which features the face of a person, famous or otherwise, and using it as a “starter”, adding a body to the head while still preserving all or most of the stamp. In other words, the stamp and body morph to make one image. Postmarks are added to the stamp to enhance the mail flavour.
I have only noticed recently that there is an optional side bar on Google Images (click on “hide” or “show”) which gives choices for size, colour, photo or clipart etc. For postage stamps showing faces, type in “Postage stamp pictures” and then go to the side bar and click on “large” and “face” and some great stamps will appear.
Of course, another way of approaching the theme could be designing your own stamp to use in the process.
I am including two links that may interest you .... these are the first postage people attempts of Bev and yours truly:
