This week contains some of my favorite exercises of the whole workshop. We're going to start putting our goals and aspirations on paper. We're also going to be talking about some of the excuses we make for not accomplishing our goals.

For me, personally, the section on using age as an excuse hit me right where I live. At 50, is it too late for me to start thinking of myself as an artist? Cameron says "no," but society tends to look at middle-aged women as has-beens or even never-weres.

I'm looking forward to hearing your insights after you read the chapter.

Donna, Did you send out a worksheet for this chapter? I didn't get one. I like your worksheets better than the book! So, I don't want to miss one.

I am so glad you said something. I mailed it out Thursday morning, but only to ME! I always send a copy to me and a blind copy to everyone else. That way I'm not sharing e-mails with everyone. But this time, I forgot to send the blind copy. I'm so sorry. I'm e-mailing it now.

I wake up and slip on my sweats and tennis shoes while my husband lies sleeping.

After making coffee in my immaculate kitchen, I head out to the sunporch overlooking the lake (neither of which I have) to do my morning pages. I catch up on e-mails and DAQ while drinking my second cup of coffee and eating breakfast.

Then it's time for a walk around the lake. My dogs go with me, and they don't pull at the leash or try to chase squirrels. My legs don't hurt and my energy is high (they've found a cure for CFS and fibro).

I spend the rest of the day in the little cabin behind our house that I've outfitted with my art, craft and writing supplies. (I'm dreaming, right?)

That night, Barry, the kids, grandkids and I have a wonderful dinner sitting on the patio, watching the sun set over the lake. Someone sets off fireworks and we end the day oohing and ahhing over their beauty.

What kinds of colors are you using with your sketches? Watercolors? Prisma? I'd love to see some of your work, if you feel like sharing.
