Hi everyone,
While I've been getting a little bored creating one layout after another and not really going anywhere with anything I do, I've become very interested in the prospect of printing my work on fabric. I have one piece in particular that I want to do as a silk scarf. While researching this, I've come across a great Web site that some of you may already know about. For those of you who don't, I encourage you to visit the following, and while you're there, click on the featured artists link-- there are some very talented people there. Here it is: http://www.dharmatrading.com/
Have fun!

Oh wow... I can envision quirk work being screen printed or batiked. Thanks for sharing.

wow, thanks for this information Juli, I love this idea! (I can just see it now....hmmm...silk scarf exchanges...will there be no end to it!) I always like to hear about ways to actually use layouts after all that work!

Juli, be sure to keep us informed. Have you figured out how you're going to get the length on your scarf? Print it on 11" silk sheets and sew them together or do you have another idea?
I think this sounds like an exciting project and can't wait to see what you do with it.

Thanks for the great link! I have printed out some of my things on muslin using freezer paper and they look great, I can only imagine them on silk!! Please keep us posted on the silk creations!

Oh, Kate, you are cracking me up. Yeah, silk scarf exchanges for sure! Lol.
P.S. Okay, went there. So maybe not silk scarves but what about those cunning little silk brooches?

Hi again,
While you're there, check out the flour sack towels too-- those make great gifts, with the iron on transfer of your choice, of course. I did some of these last year and ended up keeping them for myself. Oh how greedy!

Oh, by the way, here's another good link to go see: http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/image.html

Juli, I'm seriously considering doing personalized cloth napkins for everyone attending my family Christmas party (25-30 people), and it's all your fault. Every time, I start looking around on that site, Martha Stewart invades my body.
So many great projects, so little time.
Those are some truly beautiful projects! Thanks for sharing the link. I don't think I'd have the talent for fabrics, but that was some great eye candy.

Yay, Donna-- go for it! Just think-- you'd be creating a family heirloom.
And Amy-- you should try it. The iron-on stuff is very easy and so much fun. I think you would be very pleased with the results.
Glad you all liked the links. More fun with photos!
Juli

Someone mentioned fabric and my eyes glazed over....LOL! Glad you all are having fun with these ideas, though! Put your best quirk spin on 'em for me!

there is actually a Yahoo group listed in the Art-E-Zine piece specifically dedicated to Inkjet Transfers onto various surfaces:

I would love to get into this (sigh...like all the other projects)
