This challenge is inspired by the work of world reknowned photographer Cindy Sherman. All of Cindy's photos are of herself but none are self-portraits. Rather, the artist projects herself as a fascinating series of characters and personas.
OK, does this not sound like fun? The concept here is to do a piece featuring yourself acting out a character/personal that is not 'you' (but maybe a fun fantasy version of you!).
You can do this by staging a photo shoot like Cindy Sherman did, or creating a dramatic character space through digital alteration/collage. Or a combination of the two. I plan to do some sample layouts at some point but for now here is one in which I play character from the TV show "Lost" (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=270&cat=500&ppuser=6)(superimposing my face on the body of the actress who plays Kate). This was enormously fun as she has a fabulous figure which I got to 'borrow'. Another related piece is I am Free (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20&cat=500&ppuser=6), which is more of a fantasy character
Here are some links to Cindy's work so you can get an idea of where she's coming from:
