 Spotted some strange digi products lately. Makes me wonder if Quirk Fever is infiltrating the design world...
Lord of the Rings/Elvish Doodles (http://divinedigital.com/divineboutique/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1128) This this like Trekkies that speak 'Klingon'?
Build a Rolodex (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/xcart/product.php?productid=17125&cat=0&page=1) Given the discussions here about the tribulations of Rolodex, this product should probably come w/a warning label.

LOL... hard to imagine that QUIRK would ever become mainstream.

And Kathryn Balint is doing quite a lot of fun quirky vintage stuff at her site, too! I'm glad to see more embracing the idea of creating for the sake of creating....whatever strikes your fancy...it doesn't have to be a traditional scrapbook page! :)

I think actually Quirking is where I started and I have come full circle so to speak with the scrapbooking just adding another dimension to what I was already doing.
Nevermore

Tee hee, Debra, I did tell Traci I thought she might like to check in here cuz it was the home of the dexxie but now that I have reread our Rolodex thread (all 18 pages and that was just ONE thread of several) she might never go near the format again. That was one truly scary thread!

When I was doing the "Ultimate Scrapper" Competition in May - I was reading the future of scrapbooking by the final contestants & thought at the time Altered/Collage was going to take over. It seems like it's creeping in, lol.

Yeah you were the FIRST person I thought of when I saw that puppy. In fact that designer sounds like she'd fit right in here.
Re Quirk going mainstream, it reminds me of Art History class. I guess there's this whole theory about the 'Avante Garde' where something is really 'out there' and edgy and then it gradually becomes mainstreamed to the point where it can become a cheesy cliche.
Reminds me of Freestyle - I think the 'Freestyle Look' is popular but one can easily acquire it now by buying a bunch of hand drawn doodles. True Quirk or Freestyle is not about a 'look' but about creating from one's innermost being. It becomes edgy when one takes the risk to put stuff out there that isn't what people are used to seeing. That said, I am still enjoy doing my 'scrapmommy' phase w/cute children and frilly little doodads. Guess it's my version of crochet.

Even when I do "normal" LO, I try really hard to avoid what I have seen in my brief trips through the galleries. It is important that whatever I create contains a lot of me. This also means I'm not a fan of template craze (sorry Becky).

Not sure I could have said this better myself. ITA:D

Hey now whats wrong with crochet huh? I was just thinking of hunting out my crochet hooks too. I can make a mean crocheted pansey flower doillie and crochet cardigans seem to be back in style here this year as well.

Part of my major exhibition at design school was crochet in the form of a large queen sized bedspread

Helen, love your crochet work. I've made scarfs, and I've started several afghans, but never seem to finish them. As for knitting, I guess I'm just not coordinated enough.
