Your Quirk Ho blinkie has me cracking me up! But I'd love to put the "Have you gone MAD?" one on my blog. Mind if I grab them from you?

Take 'em ladies! I woke up with a wild quirk hair this morning and just HAD to make them. You can blame Becky (webchyck) for the "QUIRK HO" one. She's constantly calling me names like that. So, so sad. sadrobyn!

And I forgot to mention that my good buddy Maya so kindly gave me the MAD woman picture. Isn't she hysterical?! You should see the whole picture. Really crazy woman! I think she was being lobotamized or something. LOL!

I have never heard that expression before...Gillian, please expand on it a little bit. Is it surprise?

Sorry - that's a very British expression - it means 'Well blow me down with a feather'! Or ' Crikey!' or 'Flippin' 'eck!' LOL. Yep - surprise is the refined way of putting it.

Come on then - what are the American/Aussie equivalents?

But Skye, such pithiness!

You toss one of my other favorite words - pithy - around with such ease. Have I told you lately that I love your vocabulary? Whenever I use that word in regular conversation, and believe me I do -- people are like, 'Whazzat?'

Gillian, my favorite British surprise expression is gobsmacked. It is so rude and so visceral. I don't use it too often around here because I get the slight lip curl when I do as in "what a rude visceral expression!". My expression of surprise are all oldies, Holy Cow! being my favourite. Not that I am incredibly fond of it, just that it springs unbidden to my lips whenever I am shocked.

Skye, I was looking through my old layouts for one I did of a quaint cottage (redundant when speaking of Skye) we stayed at on the Isle of Skye. I have discovered that a lot of my pieces were never saved. I had one I wanted to post for Julie Mead that was fairly interesting but it isn't even saved as a jpeg on the original site I posted it (must have got lost in a reshuffle) so all I have is a 5kb thumbnail. This has got me burning DVDs this morning. It isn't like I am mourning the loss for future generations, lol, but now that I have gotten a bit on with it, there are some older pieces I would like to futz around with and lo! they are gone. It is useless to even suggest that I will recreate them from scratch. I just know I never will. The Lost Raven Ouvre--Portrait of the Digital Artist as a Luddite.

Oh, is the Skye Cottage layout part of the Lost Raven Years? I would so much like to see that one. Besides wanting to live in Toronto, as I just mentioned elsewhere, I want to move to Skye. I can't tell you how much I felt like that was my place when I was there. I can't describe it so much as just that it was a soul-deep feeling of coming home.

I am so sorry you lost some of your past creations. Perhaps you will stumble upon them somewhere on a hard drive or a CD or something somehow???

Raven - you crack me up! LOL. Please can you tell me whereabouts in the world you're from - I like to know these things.

BT, I love how every thread in this forum goes completely off-topic and no-one gives a monkeys. ;) It's a quirk thing....

We are barking mad, after all. It was you that said we are, wasn't it Madge? Raven is located somewhere in the Great White North, otherwise known as Canada. Perhaps she'll tell us where. Don't worry, Raven. We won't show up on your doorstep.

Gillian/Madge (I find that very confusing. I answered one of your posts Dear Madge, then noticed at the bottom Gillian, so I changed it and then I saw Madge as your name but I didn't change it back because... I dropped the "Dear") and I do believe I welcomed Madge and Gillian to the board.

I am from Toronto the Good. Was born and bred in a small south west Ontario town (which geographic locus will act to fill in my entire childhood for those in the know, it is quite a stereotype. Fergus, home of the Highland Games which we never ever ever went to once!). I lived on Scotland Street. It is all true. I am first generation Canadian, the entire clan having roots in Dundee, Scotland. All of my family except immediate nuclear still live there.

I know very little about Wales at all (ie never knew that there was a Mid Wales, reminds me of Middle Earth) except it is the birthplace of Dylan Thomas who is in my top three poets ever ever ever. Rumour has it it is geographically stunning.

Not sure yet, still checking. If it isn't where I think it is, it will not be found. One thing you don't know about me is how aggressively anal I am about organisation. There is no pile of muddle anywhere to be sorted through. Everything is labelled and sorted. My partner told me he sits in different chairs from time to time just so I don't throw him out. I especially hate things that just lie around collecting dust a la Walden's Pond. I go on regular tears through the house tossing without regret. Sometimes I feel a little sad when I see the look in Joe and Max's eyes when they realise I am in high gear but it does get them to put their stuff away pronto.

Thanks Raven - I have a similar problem with your name, except I don't think I even know your real name. Now we're getting quirk names too, it will be even more confusing!

Ah Canada! My DH is half-Canadian although we've never been there. It would be high on my wish list though. A stuning place to live.

Wales is beautiful also, but in a softer, greener way than Scotland. There's mountains and lakes and waterfalls and very little traffic. We're English but moved here from Oxfordshire 4 years ago to get away from traffic and noise, etc.

The organization mad, anal-retentive side of me greatly appreciates this side of your personality, Raven. Alas, I am married to a pack rat who has a tendency to have "piles of things" all over the house. In the interest of domestic tranquility and ease, I have lightened up on my "everything must be put away" mentality and have even gotten into having small piles of things of my own in the office sometimes.

But then, like you, I go on tears through the house -- not so much to throw away but more to organize and put stuff away. Hubby actually put a bunch of stuff away last night. I was so happy I almost cried.

My posting name is Nevermore but my quirk name is Raven. I think I will see if it is possible to change my posting name but that might be a nightmare for admin. I have been Raven for a very long time but had to use Nevermore at a site because Raven was taken (yikes). People got to know me as Nevermore so I didn't want to confuse things and just kept Nevermore as I moved from board to board. Naturally, I was pleased to hear we were getting quirk names and of course I signed up for Raven immediately.

My real name is Kim (a la Novak no less. My mother was out of her ever loving mind.)
