I checked my email this morning (as I usually do) and almost my entire lot of mail was notification of comments on my quirks here!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look and comment - I so rarely get that elsewhere - and it's so disheartening (unless I make something mainstream and then people like it).

Thanks for letting me work out of the box and be me and actually liking it!!

This is the first site I've posted on where I want to comment on EVERY PIECE! Kaza, your stuff is amazing. DAQ was meant to be a home where our 'weird' stuff could be loved and appreciated. It's harder on the tradigi sites where a lot of folks are mostly responsive to cute kid LO's.

Aw - thanks so much - I just love it here

And, I hear you about the cute kid LO's. My piece, Sad Fairy, was original not blue, it was a very dramatic black and white, with grey but all I got was - hmm, bit dark for a kid's LO - to which I replied - well, kids aren't happy all the time and I'm sure things can seem pretty dark to them too

I agree Kaza, the commenters here are really rocking! And I agree SM, everything in the gallery is so commentable!

Everything here is amazing which is why I felt the need one morning to comment on everything in the Digital Studio section - I think I missed some though, coz they are exclusive to the Member Galleries, but I'm going to get to them - LOL

Kaza, I so agree with you about the dark days in kid's lives too. I don't want my kids to think every single day is sunny and smiley! It's okay to be sad sometimes. As long as you can turn it into something quirky later.

And I am still geeking out about the number of comments my layouts have gotten. I'm a freaking newbie, for goodness sake! You're all way too awesome here - it's like coming home.

I feel the same, right at home here at other sites I bearly get any comments on my art, boohoo. but here man I get bombarded with comments and loving it too, I have to check every morning what happened the night before, since I live in europe there is quit some time difference between us. I think most quirks live in the states.lol:) so thank you girls from me too on commenting

Oh yeah, Nicole, we're definately a quirky bunch here in the US. LOL Nah, really, I'm guessing the quirks from Europe just haven't found us yet.

Another interesting topic!! I have had the same experience re: posting things and no comments. I think this topic would make a great article (I might even try my hand at it). As we all know (just like the other thread about pleasing ourself first) it shouldn't matter what others think...but sometimes it does! There is nothing worse than being proud (sheepishly or not) of something, posting it and getting nothing in the comments section! You go from feeling great to wondering what is wrong with the work or even worse, you! There is certainly a psychological component to this phenomenon (did I spell that correctly??). We are lucky to have this new website and forum to truly express ourselves!!!

I completely agree Karen - it seems like everytime I go into the gallery I find something that I missed the last time that's just fantastic!

Confession here -- I'll check a gallery two-three times a day after I've done a posting just to see if anyone has left comments. I know it's sad, but I guess I still like the confirmation from outsiders that I'm doing good work. (It was this same compulsion that made me work so hard for As in school.) :)

But, because it's important to me, I assume it's important to others. When I find myself with time on my hand, I'll go to galleries and search out layouts without comments. I'd hate for someone not to post, or even worse, give up altogether just because they're not getting comments.

The folks here are all so generous with their time and comments. I've never experienced anything like this on any other site.

Donna - just wondering if you check the box to get an email when you get a comment? Makes it a lot easier than checking the gallery all of the time.

hihihi I do the same, since I work at home, and my comp is on all day long (set to this site) I check it often too, I dont think it is sad, it is quirky and that is what we are. so fun to hang out here among all you great artist. I do not get to comment on all lo I miss a lot too, and I just have been very sick with the worst throathinfection I ever had. but the docter made it better with some pills. and all better now. just love it here.:)

Oh yeah, definately addicted to the comments. Love the little, 'you've got mail' box!

Glad you're feeling better Nicole, such a bummer to have a sore throat!

Oh yes, our galleries are filled with such beautiful work. I'm amazed each time I go in. I think Somerset needs to come visit our quirky little spot and see all the wonderful art here.

Yes, yes, and YES!!! This is one of the main reasons why I'm making myself at home here. The comments feel genuine and real, as opposed to "nice job." KWIM? And there is nothing worse than posting something you feel great about and not getting any comments at all. That'll burst your balloon so fast. Make you question yourself artistically and creatively. That's why I love this place.

Yes. No comments really sucks!
