Donna asked how I made the black and white piece for the Urban Collective challenge. Well, let's see...Two layers, one black, one white. Type layers in black and white, rasterized. Duplicated the type layers. Locked the transparency on the top layer and took one of the Basic Brushes (not the solid kind, but the other kind...I have no idea what they are called...let me look---it's a soft mechanical brush) in a gray color and just stroked it across the top layer lightly. I played around with nudging the top and bottom text layers, but leaving them where they were made the cross hairs on that font work out perfectly. Then, I applied a One Click Wow texture style to the top layer of text (tried several before settling on that one). So, no gradient, but it gave that effect, didn't it?

Thanks for asking!

OMG, Becky. I'm too lazy to do all that.:p If I ever need this effect, you'll have to hold my hand.

I bet you are SO not lazy when it comes to your art! That really took just minutes...seriously. I didn't try that hard...I just had this idea to do black and white and that's what came out.

Did you use your tablet to do the brush strokes? I'm thinking doing that with a mouse might be a little difficult.

It really was just a swish-swish stroke...I have a touchpad on my laptop...that's what I used. Didn't have my tablet hooked up at the time.
