As you all may or may not know, the fabulous quirk we call Maya is not actually a Maya in the physical world. It is a name that she chose for herself when she first became active online and it has since taken on great importance for her. If you haven’t already read about this in her “About Me” interview, please do so here. (http://www.digitalartquirks.com/captain.htm)
To quote Maya,
“In some cultures it is common for a person to reach a stage of their life where they are to select a name for themselves. It is recognized as a time when one starts to be responsible for their own life, becomes self-accountable and starts making conscious decisions.”
In keeping with that thought, Maya had the genius idea that every quirk should have a quirk name. When many of us joined this website we began a journey of artistic exploration, of finding our “inner quirk” and learning to embrace and express it through art. What better way to celebrate this new stage in our creative lives than by shedding the shabby skin of our everyday names and selecting a new and quirky moniker for ourselves?
