Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that we got a call from Kelsey at 2:30 this morning and everything is just fine. We had told them not to worry about time differences, and whether or not we would be sleeping or not. We figured if she was lucky enough to find a phone line and get through to us ... DO IT!!

LOL - I also have no idea what I agreed to -- when the phone rang there was a man saying something (and he sounded happy) in a language I didn't recognize or understand. So I knew it had to do with Kelsey. But I heard my name "Karen Aicken" and just kept saying yes every time there was a pause. The call was done via satellite, so there is always a delay after you speak and only one person can speak at a time. Sort of like real modern walkie talkies, ha ha.

We didn't talk long - but they are having fun and seeing lots. They are ahead of schedule in their biking and enjoying really great weather. Kelsey was concerned they would be dealing with many rainy days and constant wet gear, but to this point they are only dealing with sunburn. They are really enjoying the ocean she said. Gregg asked if she was healthy and felt safe and she said YES to both so that is good news.

Short and sweet and A VERY WELCOME PHONE CALL!!!!

Now, I'd better get busy finishing those ATCs. I am not even finished the chorus yet and there is still a whole other verse to do!!

Cheers
Karen

Great news! I'm glad you heard from her and that they're having fun :) And, yeah, satellite phones are brutal. I used to work for a guy that decided he had to have one when he went on a vacation in South America (guess he thought we couldn't survive without him calling to drive us crazy while we were trying to work LOL) - it was a total nightmare, I don't think we ever got a call where we actually understood what he was saying LOL So, I'm glad yours went better than that!
